News For You!

Hello everyone,

After a 22-hour trip home from the NACON conference in Orlando, FL, I am finally back in the saddle once again.  The training I went through with the Coast Guard was ASIST Suicide Prevention Training that I can also use at Shoreline in ministry.  Special thanks to Joe Walker for filling in for me at the pulpit while I was gone.

This weekend, I plan to bring the message, “Are You Facing A Major Obstacle In Your Life?” from Joshua 3:1-4:9.  Please read through the attached “Digging Deeper” Bible study notes before Sunday to get the most out of the message.  We hope you have been enjoying the meals after church each week.

MEN’S ROUNDUP

MISSION 119:11

Mission 119:11 is our Children’s Ministries midweek ministry.  After a break during Covid, we are excited to get this ministry back up and running again this September.  God has provided us with a great team of leaders this year and now we just need the children to sign up.  If you would like to have your children involved in this ministry, or even help with it, please contact Jessie Barnard at 541-808-0902.

SPECIAL REQUEST

Stephanie Wynn from Shoreline is shut in much of the time these days, but has found a productive way of using her time and energy.  Stephanie is very involved with what is called “The Pocket Blanket Project” making blankets for our local homeless population.  Stefanie is in need of material to continue this ministry.  She says she has been getting “Mainstays” Fleece Throw’s at Wal-Mart, they are 50 x 60 inches.  The plain are $3.00 and the print $3.78 each.  She said she adds three pockets, one that she places a Bible in, one with a toothbrush, and the other with socks. Stephanie says, “We’ve delivered over 100 Pocket Blankets since 5/12/22.”  If you are willing to help Stephanie with materials for the cost of this special project, please call her at 541-756-2187, or at 541-260-9077.

MOPS

Our MOPS ministry (Mother’s-Of-Preschoolers) will be starting once again in September.  If you are interested in attending or helping with this very special ministry, please call Kristal Hangana at 775-379-8892.

BIGGER PLAYGROUND/NEW SIDEWALK/NEW WINDOWS

You might notice that we have enlarged the children’s playground and have also torn up the old sidewalk placing a new one on the southwest side of the church.  We hope that this new sidewalk will be safer for you and we have also created a way to drain our new baptistry.  Sometime in the not-too-distant future, we will be replacing the old single pane windows in the Passover Room with double paned, which should make the Passover Room much warmer this winter.

THANK YOU

Thank you for your faithful support of Shoreline Community Church, your kindness and generosity have allowed us to keep pressing forward ministry, even during difficult times.

I hope to see you this Sunday at 10:30am outdoors on the lawn.  Remember, prayer time is at 8:30am in Room 101; three adult Sunday School electives are available at 9:30am; and church starts at 10:30am.  Please be praying about whom you can invite to church with you this Sunday.

NOTE:  After church on Sunday, I will be leaving for Coast Guard Chaplain training in Orlando, Florida.  I will be gone for the entire week and Joe Walker will be filling in for me on Sunday, August 21st.  Pastor Dave Rymer is slowly coming back, but is still very weak.  If any issues come up while I am gone, please call the elder in your shepherding group.

All Church Campout

Work parties on our children’s playground are scheduled for this Monday, August 15th and Saturday, August 20th at 9:00am.  We are replacing the sidewalks to make entry on the playground side of the Sanctuary safer and giving our children a bigger playground.  We really need your help and hope you are available on those days.

South Coast Gospel Mission Open House

The South Coast Gospel Mission will be holding an open house on Sunday, August 21st from 1:00pm-3:00pm.  Come and meet the mission’s new executive director Joshua Haynes and hear the vision he has for the mission.  For more information, please contact Joe Walker or Connie Brook.

There is no Pray Oregon Coast in August, we plan to pick up the event once again in September.

This weekend I plan to bring the message, “Will You Stand For Jesus Or Buckle Under The Pressure?” from John 19:1-22; communion will follow.  Please read through the attached “Digging Deeper” Bible study notes before Sunday to get the most out of the message.  Once again, we will be meeting outside on the SCC Pavilion.  If you get cold sitting outside Sunday mornings, try placing your lawn chairs next to the big fence to get a wind block.  We still have open spots for people to worship in their cars if you like.

After Church Lunch

The church will once again be providing lunch for anyone who would like to hang around after church and continue fellowshipping.  This week, the Ciccarelli’s will be serving chilidogs.  We hope you can hang around and join us.  (Special thanks to everyone who has been helping with the cooking and food donations.)
