Hello everyone,

This weekend I plan to bring the message, “Israel’s Fall From Grace Is Not Final” from Romans 11:11-24 as Paul looks at the future of the nation of Israel once again.  Please read through the attached “Digging Deeper” Bible study notes before Sunday to get the most out of the message.

Vacation Bible School – This Week!

We have now finished day three of our Mission 119:11 VBS (“Running The Race”) which is scheduled for July 20th-24th from 10:00am-2:00pm.  From everything I have seen, the kids are having an absolute blast.  Please invite your neighborhood Kindergarten through 6th Grade friends, it is not too late for them to join us.  For more information, please call the church office at 541-808-0902 or just show up at 10:00am.

Part-Time Job Vacancy

Shoreline Community Church is currently looking for someone to fill a part-time groundskeeper vacancy. This position would be for a few hours per week cutting lawns, weed eating, and removing the cobwebs from our buildings. If you are interested, please let Mike know, the elders will look at the applicants and make the final decision.

New Women’s Bible Study

Deb Sensenbach has begun a brand new “Women’s Bible Study” at Ezekiels Wednesdays @ 10:00am.  This Bible study will be every Wednesday with the first topic being “The Bride Of Christ.”  I hope you can join Deb and the ladies for this enlightening study.

Camp Good News

We are just two weeks away from Child Evangelism Fellowship’s “Camp Good News” near Langlois.   Sam Turman, as well as Isaiah and Grace Turman, plan to spend the entire week with the kids at camp.  If your children are Kindergarten through 6th Grade, we encourage you to send them to this life changing Christian Camp.  Camp Good News will take place at Camp Fircroft.  For any questions, please call Isaiah or Sam at 541-808-0902. 

Bullet Proof

Bullet Proof is our 3rd-6th grade ministry and meets weekly during the summer months.  Bullet Proof gathers next to the church office every Friday evening at 5:30pm.  We hope you can join the other students for a great time together.  For more information, call Sam Turman at 541-808-0902.

Frontline

Frontline is our Middle School/High School ministry and meets Monday evenings at 7:00pm.  We hope students can join our newlyweds Isaiah and Grace Turman (among others) for this fun evening every Monday.

Ladies Night Out – 6:00pm Friday

Due to the July 4th weekend celebrations, our next “Ladies Night Out” has been moved to 6:00pm Friday, July 17th at the church.  We hope you can join the ladies this Friday for a fun time together.

The SCC All-Church Campout

Our Shoreline Community Church “All-Church Family Campout” is scheduled for July 8th (today) through July 13th at the Laverne Park Private Campground above Coquille.  We have reserved the entire private campground to ourselves, we hope you can join us for a very special time together.

Lots Of Events Coming!

Hello everyone,

Cheryl and I have returned from a wonderful trip to Alaska as we celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary a few months early during a time when the weather was good and the seas were calm.  Pictures simply don’t do justice to the beauty of Alaska.  Yesterday also marked 30-years of full-time ministry to the North Bend/Coos Bay area.  We are hitting a lot of milestones this year including on November 6th the 20th birthday of Shoreline Community Church.

I hope you can join us this Sunday as I plan to bring the message, “Original Intent – America Refocus 250” as we hit yet another milestone, our nation reaching 250 years old.  I think you will find this message enlightening as I use Ephesians 6:10-14a and 2 Chronicles 7:14 for our main text.  Please read through the attached “Digging Deeper” Bible study notes before Sunday to get the most out of the message.

Hello everyone,

This Sunday I plan to take a break from our series on the “The Book Of Romans” with the message, “Being The Light Of The World” from Philippians 2:12-18.  Please read through the attached “Digging Deeper Bible study notes before Sunday to get the most out of the teaching.

Note: I will be preaching this Sunday but then will be going on vacation for two weeks.  My Tuesday Bible classes will be canceled for the next two weeks.  Cheryl and I will be taking our very first cruise to Alaska to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary a little early (it is actually in October, but the weather is much nicer right now).  This trip has been on our bucket list for a long time.  July 1st also marks 30 years of full-time ministry to the Coos Bay/North Bend area. 

Pray Oregon Coast (6:00pm this Friday at Shoreline)

The next “Pray Oregon Coast” community prayer and worship event is scheduled for 6:00pm Friday, June 12th at Shoreline Community Church.  I hope we can get a good turnout from our church family for this special time of community prayer and worship as we are the host church this month.  Representatives from several local evangelical churches will gather for an evening of worship at Shoreline.

Please consider bringing some tasty treats to share on Sunday mornings.  We have been using store bought cookies, but a little home cooking is always a nice touch for the church family on Sunday mornings. 

Congratulations!

Congratulation to Roger and Denise Dunithan on celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary Friday, June 12th.  Roger is the Chairman of the Deacon Board and Denise is the church Bookkeeper and is always working behind the scenes.  We are blessed to have Roger and Denise at Shoreline!

Isaiah Turman will be leaving next week and will be married to his new wife Grace on Thursday, June 18th in Aubern, WA.  Congratulations to both of them on their upcoming wedding!

All-Church Campout At Laverne Park

Our “All-Church Campout” at Laverne Park is scheduled for July 8-13.  Each year we reserve the entire private campground for the church; the cost is $30.00 per night per campsite.  Please sign up on the sheet behind the sound booth for this exciting time together.  We hope you can join us there!

“Bullet Proof,” (our 3rd through 6th grade student ministry) meets Fridays at 5:30pm throughout the summer.  This Friday, June 12th will be “Movie and Game Night.”  We hope your students can join Isaiah and Sam for a fun evening in Base Camp.

Mission 119:11 Vacation Bible School

Our “Mission 119:11 Vacation Bible School” is scheduled for Monday, July 20th-24th from 10:00am-2:00pm.  This year’s theme will be “Running The Race” and will include children Kindergarten through 6th Grade.  We hope you can send your children and grandchildren to this exciting time together with Isaiah and Sam Turman along with the Mission team. 

Note:  We are looking for volunteers to help listen to the children recite Bible verses.  We are also in need of a cook to help cook our lunches.  If you are interested, please let Isaiah know as soon as possible.

Deacon Request

Note: To be clear, there is no known threat against our church.  That being said, our deacon security team has asked me to notify the congregation that if an active shooter ever showed up at church, the best thing that each congregation member can do is to stay calm and go down to the floor.  Do not run but hit the floor so that the security team can deal with any intruder.   I was hesitant to put this out, but I think it best that everyone be on the same page.  These days, you never know.

Jerry Isley “Celebration Of Life”

Jerry Isley’s “Celebration of Life” is scheduled for 1:30pm this Saturday at Shoreline Community Church, we hope you can come and support Jerry’s family for this special time of remembrance.

Note: Please bring deserts to share with those attending “Jerry’s Celebration,” this should be a large memorial and we need a little extra help.

Can You Help?

Is there anyone available who could give a little tender loving care our church van?  It needs a good washing and also to be vacuumed out. The van represents the church as it is driven around town, and right now, it looks like the “Adam’s Family” van from the old TV show.  J We are also looking for a backup church van driver.

Each Sunday we put out coffee and store-bought cookies for our church family and visitors, it sure would be nice to have some tasty home baked treats to share.  If anyone is interested in helping, please bring goodies with you on Sunday mornings to share. 

Thank You Mission 119:11 Leaders

Special thanks to Isaiah and Sam Turman along with the entire Mission 119:11 (Mid-week Children’s Ministry) team for serving this year in ministry.  Last night was our “Leader Appreciation Dinner” at Gino’s Pizza.  Your efforts are greatly appreciated and the love that you shared may have touched a child for eternity.  Thank you!

Special thanks to Dominique Greenwell for doing such a great job leading this ministry and for all of the volunteers who made MomCo possible.

Building Update

You will see lots more changes at the church in the coming weeks.  Within the next few weeks, you will see new metal doors with windows installed at the main entryway of the church.  The flimsy wooden rails on the stairs in the Sanctuary will be replaced by solid metal bars that will be much safer for you going up and down the stairs.  Our main children’s room (Room 102) will have its walls redone and should be much more attractive for the children and for their parents.  The closet by the baptistry will be turned into a new Prayer Room/Classroom that will have multiple uses.  And finally, the outside door by the baptistry will be turned into a metal door which in ADA (American Disabilities Act) compliant, and the cement ramp to it will be redone to bring it up to code.  This area has long been a trip hazard.  Thank you for so faithfully supporting this ministry.

Women’s Retreat

Please be in prayer for our ladies as around 20 of them will be heading to the retreat this weekend at Camp Fir Point in Glendale, OR.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to all of the children who participated in our “Mission 119:11” mid-week Children’s Ministry this past year.  Last night the kids had a great time at their award’s ceremony.  Special thanks to Isaiah and Sam Turman along with all the volunteers who helped to make Mission such a great ministry. 

Building Update

In the next couple of weeks, we plan begin work on our new Prayer Room/Classroom at the front of the Sanctuary next to the baptistry.  This will allow us to invite people forward for prayer after church each Sunday and also use the room as an additional classroom.  It’s exciting to see all the changes around the church.  You will see a few more in the weeks to come including redoing the walls in our main children’s classroom in Room 102. 

Upcoming Celebrations Of Life

Terri Etzel ~ Many of us knew Terri from years gone by.  Terri suddenly passed away at the age of 58. Terri’s “Celebration of Life” is scheduled for 10:00am this Saturday at Skyline Baptist Church in North Bend.

Jerry Isley ~ Jerry’s “Celebration of Life” is scheduled for 1:30pm next Saturday, May 23rd.  Please be in prayer for the entire Isley family during this difficult time.

Hi everyone,

This weekend I plan to bring the message, “The Golden Chain Of Salvation” from Romans chapter 8:28-39, we will also have a small gift for every mother in attendance as this Sunday is Mother’s Day.  Please read through the attached “Digging Deeper” Bible study notes before Sunday to get the most out of the message.

Note: We have had several of our regular church families move to other states to states where the economy is better for young families.  A wise, old pastor once told me, “Mike, we have to keep the front door open wider than that backdoor.”  There is a lot of truth to that statement.  Thank you for doing your part in inviting people to church with you, it was a blessing to see so many people at church last Sunday!

A Funny Footnote

Last weekend I shared the story of the screaming nurse and the birth of our first child at Fort Carson, Colorado.  After church, an elderly doctor came up to me and told me that he had served as a doctor in that very same World War II era hospital just a few years before Cheryl and I were there in 1977.  In what department?  Gynecology. What are the odds? J

Women’s Retreat – “Chosen By The King”

Sound Ministry

We are looking for individuals who would like to serve in the sound ministry.  Interested individuals must have an ear for balancing music and be comfortable with the technical aspect of the ministry.  A musical background is preferred but not required. If you are interested, please talk to Sam Turman or me.

Nursery Need

Nursery Coordinator Vicki Young has informed me that she needs more volunteers for the Nursery.  If you are willing to love on these precious little children once a month, please let me know and I will pass your name on to Vicki.

Special Thanks!

Special thanks to Phil and Karen Slaughter for cleaning up the big white cross near our parking lot, painting it bright white, and putting some new plants around it.  The cross really looks nice, thank you Phil and Karen.

Building Update

We are nearing the completion of Phase I on our Building project.  The new metal double doors will be installed in our main entryway in the not-too-distant future.  Handicap bars have now been installed in the children’s bathrooms to help elderly adults get in and out.  The elders should have a bid soon on what it will cost us to remodel the prayer room next to the baptistry.  When this room is completed, we will be able to call people forward after church for prayer and also be able to use it for an additional classroom.  Special thanks to Doug Cole Construction for the outstanding job in bringing this project to conclusion.

Child Evangelism Fellowship “Banquet/Action Fundraiser”

6:00pm Saturday, May 30th at the Bristol Event Center

Interim Coos County Coordinator Kim Paulson is looking for people willing to either host or sponsor a table for this CEF fundraising event.  She is also looking for people willing to donate items for the auction, or just to donate to this vital ministry.  If you are interested in hosting, please let me know and I will pass your name on to Kim.

Free Sofa

A gentleman in our church is offering a high-quality sofa to anyone in the church who would like it.  I’ve attached a picture above.  If you are interested, please let me know and I will transfer the information over.

Coming This Week At Shoreline!

Hello everyone,

I want to thank Pastor Dale for an incredible message last Sunday as he encouraged all of us to “Keep Going”; he is getting better every time he preaches.  I appreciate Pastor Dale and the staff filling in for me last Sunday while Cheryl and I were on vacation, we have been trying to get away since last September and haven’t been able to with everything going on.    We are back now and this weekend I plan to bring the message “All Things Work Together For Good” from Romans 8:18-28.  Please read through the attached “Digging Deeper” Bible study notes before Monday to get the most out of the message.

Visiting Missionaries

This weekend SCC missionaries Josip and Anna will be joining us from Croatia.  Josip and Anna will speak in the Passover Room at 9:30am during the Sunday School hour, they will also be sharing for a few minutes at the end of our service on Sunday.

The Gospel Jubilee And Open Mic

The monthly Gospel Jubilee And OPEN MIC concerts will resume Sunday, May 3rd at Shoreline Community Church. The concerts will take place on the first Sunday of each month at 3:00pm in the church Sanctuary.   If you would like to sing a Christian song at the event, please contact Tom and Debbie Trammel at 541-521-9596.  I hope to see you there!

Missionary Guests

This weekend we will have Mike and Drena giving us an update on their ministry in Central Asia.  They will be talking about some highly sensitive situations, and we will have to cut the live feed at the end of the service before their talk to protect those working in the field.  Come and hear what is happening behind the scenes in some of the countries that you are hearing a lot about on the news these days.

The Buddy Williams “Health And Wellness Ministry”

This weekend we will have the “Health and Wellness Ministry” set up after church in the Passover Room for anyone who would like to have their blood pressure checked or simply talk to a nurse about a condition they are facing.  Please just go to the Passover Room after church for this time of screening and teaching.

Pray Oregon Coast

Our next Pray Oregon Coast community prayer and worship event is scheduled for 6:00pm this Friday at the North Bend First Baptist Church (right next to Safeway in North Bend.)  I hope you can join me for this special event.

Hello everyone,

This weekend I plan to bring the message, “Have You Ever Doubted God?” from John 20:19-31.  If you have ever struggled with your faith, then this will be the message for you.  The teaching this week will be very practical and is the perfect follow up for the week after Resurrection Sunday.  Please read through the attached “Digging Deeper” Bible study notes before Sunday to get the most out of the message.

Good Friday and Resurrection Day   

I would like to say thank you to everyone who was involved in putting together and carrying out our Good Friday and Resurrection Day services.  A lot of people did a lot of work behind the scenes to make everything go smoothly on Friday and Sunday, and I am very thankful to each of you for that.  Thank you Pastor Dale for filling in for me on Friday with less than two days’ notice, Stefanie for putting together the incredible worship music, Jon Ahlers for all his work on the soundboard, but especially to God’s Holy Spirit for showing up in a powerful way!

Resurrection Day Follow Up

Historically, the Sunday after Resurrection tends to shrink to an even below average attendance (I guess we tire everyone out on “Easter” lol).  Please reinvite the friends you brought last week; they might just come back and start attending regularly.  Also, I encourage you to invite other people who might be willing to join you at church.  Thank you for continuing to reach out to our community!

Ladies Night Out

Our next “Ladies Night Out” is scheduled for 6:00pm this Friday night at the church.  Ladies, I hope you can make it to this evening of fellowship and fun.  Please bring a snack to share with the other ladies.

Men’s Breakfast

Our next “Men’s Breakfast” is scheduled for 9:00am this Saturday.  Men can come expecting lots of food, great fellowship, and a lively discussion following.

An Important Holy Week Update

Hello everyone and welcome to Holy Week.

There has been some confusion as to whether our Bible studies and Life Groups are continuing during Passion Week (or Holy Week) and the answer is absolutely yes.  In addition, we will be holding our Good Friday and Resurrection Day services this weekend.

Good Friday:  6:30pm Friday, April 3rd ~ “The Original Black Friday” from John 19:1-22 (followed by Communion.)  The worship music will be amazing, I hope you can join us for this special service as we prepare our hearts for Resurrection Sunday.  (Note: Your Digging Deeper Bible study notes are attached.)

Resurrection Day Celebration Sunday, April 5th ~ “He Is Risen” from Matthew 27:51-28:7a.  Our Resurrection Day Service will be filled with special music (ten songs) and a message that is sure to touch your heart.  (Note: Your Digging Deeper Bible study notes are attached.)

We need your help this Sunday!

Based on our attendance last week for Palm Sunday, we need to prepare for a very large attendance this Sunday.

Be Mindful Of Visitors

Resurrection Sunday is by far the biggest service of the year.  This is when visitors are most likely to come, especially when they receive a personal invitation.  Please be looking for people that you don’t know in the Sanctuary and around the church campus, it would be awesome if you could help us make them feel welcome.  Cheryl and I will be doing all we can, but we can only cover so much territory.  Thank you for any help!

Park Creatively

The quickest way to turn a visitor away is to not have any parking spots; we’ve seen it in the past.  There are several options we can do to open more spaces:

  • Park along the east side of the property creatively, but not blocking the traffic lane.
  • Park down by the church office, we have additional 8 spots there.
  • Park on the lawns by the horseshoe pits and even the lawn in front of the church office.
  • Park out on the streets and walk in.
  • Carpool to lessen the cars this Sunday.

Thank you for working with us to make the experience this weekend something special for everyone.

Desserts

I wonder if any of you would be willing to bring desserts for Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday to share with the church family?  It would be nice to have a nice assortment of treats for our visitors and regular attendees.

Note:  After the service we will also have a full sheet cake to celebrate Resurrection Sunday along with the grand re-opening of our church facility.

Overflow Room With Livestream

This Sunday we plan to have 40 seats set up in the Passover Room to be an overflow room as we can only have 296 people in the Sanctuary.  Harry and Caroline Able have graciously offered to be the hosts and we hope that a lot of our regulars would consider joining them for this one Sunday to open seats in the Sanctuary for first time visitors.  A sacrifice this week may bring a visitor back again in the future.

Children’s Ministry

Pastor Isaiah is working hard to get at least three workers in every children’s Sunday School Classroom.  If you are an approved worker and can help, that would be wonderful.

Adult Sunday School

We still having our usual Adult Sunday School classes on Resurrection Sunday, I hope you can be there at 9:30am.  Don’t forget that prayer time is at 8:30am in Room 101.

I know this is a lot, but this is also a very special day.  Thank you again for all your help as we attempt to reach people in our community for Jesus Christ.  Happy Resurrection Day!!

Baptism Service This Sunday

We currently have five people lined up to be baptized this weekend.  If you have never followed the Lord in water baptism and would like to, please let me know as soon as possible.

Pray Oregon Coast

Our next Pray Oregon Coast community prayer and worship event is scheduled for 6:00pm Friday, March 20th at the Bay Area Church of the Nazarene in North Bend.  We hope you can join us for a very special evening together.

Building Update

We are hoping to have room 101 back open again this weekend and Stefanie’s office up and running again.  The main hallway on the children’s wing is being painted this week and should be completed for Sunday.  We are waiting for the new flooring in the girl’s children’s bathroom before Doug and crew can finish that project.  Last Sunday I received our long-awaited permanent occupancy permit and it is now posted in the Sanctuary – Hallelujah! The goal is to have everything done in the next couple of weeks so that we can celebrate our grand re-opening of the church during our Resurrection Day Service on Sunday, April 4th.

Special Business Meeting

The elders have called a special business meeting immediately following church on Sunday, March 29th as we seek an affirmation vote on our newest deacon candidate Rod Chestnut.  Both the elders and deacons have already approved Rod for the roll, now it is up to the congregation to affirm him.

Good Friday Service

Our “Good Friday Service” is scheduled for 6:30pm Friday, April 3rd at the church.  This year I will be speaking and plan to bring the message, “The Original Black Friday” from John 19:1-22; communion will follow. 

Resurrection Day Service

This year our “Resurrection Day Service” is scheduled for 10:30am Sunday, April 4th.  Come expecting lots of special music and a message to touch your heart.  Iplan to bring the message, “He Is Risen” from Matthew 27:51-28:7a. Please be praying about who you can invite to join us at church for both our Good Friday and Resurrection Day services!

Ham Radio Question

Phil Slaughter is asking if there are any fellow ham radio operators who attend Shoreline Community Church?  He has some ideas that he would like to run by you if you do.

Buddy Williams “Health And Wellness Ministry”

Thanks to Deb Sensenbach and the team as we held our first health and wellness outreach last Sunday.  We were pleasantly surprised to have a continuous flow of people coming from the time church ended at around noon until at least 12:45pm.  We will do the screening and teaching session every 3rd Sunday of the month following church and will try to get better and better as time goes by.

Operation Christmas Child Update

Thanks to all who participated in Operation Christmas Child.  This year 12,205,900 shoeboxes were packed, of those, 3,682 shoeboxes came from the Southern Oregon Coast Team.  That is a lot of happy children who received a shoebox the gospel message, thank you for your participation.

Congratulations
Congratulations to Nathaniel and Haley Quintanilla on their marriage last Saturday evening.  Nathaniel and Haley exchanged their wedding vows at Cape Arago and were blessed by spectacular weather for late February and a beautiful sky as a backdrop.

Mission 119:11 – “White-Out Night”

Children preschool through 6th grade are invited to join our mid-week children’s ministry every Wednesday evening at 6:30pm.  This week, the theme will be “White-Out Night.”  Children can come expecting lots of fluorescent light games, this should be a very fun evening.  For more information, call Pastor Isaiah at 541-294-0709.

The Buddy Williams “Health And Wellness Ministry”

Shoreline is beginning a brand-new ministry for screening potential health problems such as high blood pressure and hopefully it will eventually spread to blood sugar and other areas of concern.  The purpose of this ministry is for screening and teaching.  The ministry was inspired by the sudden death of our beloved soundman Buddy Williams at the age of 51 from a stroke. Apparently, Buddy had been fighting high blood pressure and perhaps if the ministry had been in place, we could have flagged it early enough to help.   The ministry will be run by five current and retired nurses who will have an MD available for their questions.  The ministry will take place on the 3rd Sunday of every month following church. Please be in prayer for this new ministry that it will save lives.

This weekend I plan to bring the message, “Holy To The Lord” from Romans 6:15-23, I hope you are enjoying our series through the Book of Romans as much as I am.  Please read through the attached “Digging Deeper” Bible study notes to get the most out of the message this Sunday.

Building Update

As I write, the electricians are on the roof connecting the electricity for our new heaters in the sanctuary and classrooms.  The hallways near the bathrooms have been redone and are looking great.  We are installing new fans in the bathrooms that will be much quieter, especially in the children’s bathrooms.  Next time you are at church, I encourage you to check out the remodels that are being done in the children’s bathrooms, they will be much nicer than the old bathrooms.  The siding on the west wall of the Sanctuary is also being worked on today.  There is a lot happening here at the church as we look ahead to an exciting future.

Ladies Night Out

Our next “Ladies Night Out” is scheduled for 6:00pm Friday, March 6th in the Passover Room.  Come expecting lots of fun as the ladies play bunko together.  Note: Please bring a snack to share with the other ladies.

Men’s Breakfast

Our next “Men’s Breakfast” is scheduled for 9:00am Saturday, March 7th.  Men should expect lots of tasty food, some great fellowship, and a lively discussion to follow.

Resurrection Day Celebration

We are just a little over five weeks away from our “Resurrection Day Celebration.”  This is a fantastic time of the year to begin inviting people with you to church, they might just come and hear the gospel message.  We are already in planning for our Good Friday and Resurrection Day Services, this year I plan to teach both.

Hello everyone,

This weekend Pastor Dale Cooper plans to bring the message, “Putting God First” from Ephesians 4:1-16, I’m excited to hear what the Lord has laid on Dale’s heart.  I appreciate Dale filling in, I was originally supposed to be on vacation this week, but Cheryl became ill and we were unable to go.

On Sunday, March 1st, I plan to pick up our study through the Book of Romans with the message, “Holy To The Lord” from Romans 6:15-23.  If you would like a head start in preparing your heart for the message, I’ve attached the “Digging Deeper” Bible study notes to this email.

Pray Oregon Coast

Our next “Pray Oregon Coast” community worship and prayer event is scheduled to take place at 6:00pm this Friday, February 20th at “The Harbor Church” in North Bend.  I hope you can join us for this special evening of community worship.

Frontline Lock-In Apologetics Conference

Our Frontline Middle School and High School ministry is holding its annual “Frontline Lock-In Apologetics Conference” this Friday, February 20th and Saturday, February 21st at the church.  Students are invited to enjoy a great time together and at the same time be trained on how to better defend their faith.  For more information, please call Pastor Isaiah at 541-294-0709.

Building Update

The outside work on the church has slowed to a crawl this week as the rain and cold weather have kept the workers indoors.  Doug and his crew have been working hard on completing the painting inside and getting all our bathrooms ready. Doug has also ordered new metal stall dividers and new vanities for the children’s bathrooms.  He is hoping to get some of the hardy plank up on the outside as weather allows so that we can get the electricity hooked back up and be able to use our good heaters in the sanctuary and classrooms by sometime next week.  Thank you for your patience and understanding during the construction process.

The Men’s Retreat

Due to an unforeseen schedule conflict, our “Men’s Retreat” is being moved a little later in the year with the dates being, most-likely, May 29-31.   I will fill you in as I have more information.

Inviting People To Church

In our recent survey, we were reminded that 50.5% of the people who attend Shoreline are here because they were invited by a family member or friend.  Please be praying about whom you can invite with you to church, they might just come.

Hi everyone,

This weekend, I plan to bring the message, “The Second Adam” from Romans 5:12-21.  I hope you are enjoying our chapter-by-chapter verse-by-verse study through the Book of Romans.  To get the most out of Sunday’s message, please spend some time going through the attached “Digging Deeper” Bible study notes before Sunday.

Note: Due to our ongoing construction, the heaters will not be working in the Sanctuary this weekend.  Fortunately, rain is in the forecast so our temperatures will be warming up a little bit.  In any case, you might come prepared in case you need to wear a sweater.

Calling For An All Church Fast

The Church has faced many difficulties over the past few months including several deaths, serious illnesses and physical afflictions that have hit our attendees, construction issues in updating our old building, and “a counterfeit Pastor Mike” trying to steal money from our congregation through emails and text messages claiming to be me.  Pastor Isaiah has also faced online attacks because he was invited to and dared to share the gospel to some 600 people at the TPUSA event.  At the suggestion of Pastor Dale, the elders are calling for everyone (not including those who can’t medically) to fast for at least one meal this week and spend the time praying for the protection of our church and our church families.

Ladies Night Out

Our next “Ladies Night Out” is scheduled for 6:00pm Friday, February 7th in the Passover Room.  The ladies can come expecting lots of fun as they play “Telestrations,” the telephone game sketched out.  Please bring a snack to share.

Men’s Breakfast

Our next “Men’s Breakfast” is scheduled for 9:00am Saturday, February 7th.  Men are invited to come expecting lots of tasty food, some great fellowship, and a lively discussion to follow.

Building Update

The repairs necessary to bring our Sanctuary (inside and out) up to current fire codes are moving along quickly.  What is slowing us down a little is that we have to wait for multiple inspections before we can begin closing things up.  As a result, our bathroom setup will be the same this weekend as we had it last weekend which allowed for four stalls for the women and two for the men.  Note: We also have two more bathrooms in the church office.  Thank you for your understanding during this time, hopefully the construction will be completed soon.  Special thanks to Doug Cole Construction Inc for taking this project on, they are doing a great job!

Annual Church Business Meeting – This Weekend!

Our Annual Church Business Meeting is scheduled for this Sunday immediately following church.  The elders will be asking the congregation to affirm the following individuals to serve as elders and deacons in 2026.  We will also be asking the congregation to approve the 2026 church budget for the amount of $500,000.00; a question and answer time will take place before the voting.

Important Shoreline Updates

Mission 119:11 – 6:30pm Tonight (Midweek-Children’s Ministry)

Children (preschool – 6th Grade) are invited to join us tonight for “Mission 119:11.”  Children should come expecting lots of fun and excitement and a great time in God’s Word, tonight’s theme will be “Drive-In-Movie Theater Night.”  We hope to see you can join us tonight at Mission for an evening of fun.

TPUSA At The Egyptian Theater

Turning Point USA is holding “An American Values Tour” at 7:00pm tomorrow (Thursday) night at the Egyptian Theater in Coos Bay.  Pastor Isaiah will be one of the youth ministry speakers and plans to bring a short message on “The Gospel And Community.”  Tickets must be purchased through the Egyptian Theater website, if they are sold out there, I’ve been told there may be a few tickets available at the door.  There will most-likely be many protesters at this event, if you attend, I want to remind you to act like Christians realizing some will be there trying to cause a scene so as to disrupt the event.

Building Update

Lots of work has been going on at the church this week.  Adding a little more than 25% in size to the Sanctuary size has triggered the requirement for us to bring the entire Sanctuary, inside and out, up to current State fire codes; churches are considered commercial buildings. The original Sanctuary is 70 years old, so we must bring it up to code.  As a result, we are doing additional Sheetrocking both inside and outside of the church.  Unfortunately, meeting these codes means we will have to redo a portion of the outside work.  This weekend, our bathrooms have been affected by the work so we won’t have as many stalls available as usual, but we will have enough to meet our needs.  The elders have brought on contractor Doug Cole and his team, they are working hard and doing an excellent job of bringing us up to the current State fire codes in a timely manner.

Church Survey

The elders are prayerfully and strategically looking ahead to the future of the church, and we would like to listen to the voices of our congregation.  Proverbs tells us that plans succeed with wise counsel, and we believe your perspective matters as part of our shared discernment.  In an attempt to do so, we have developed a brief survey for you to answer.  This survey is one way we are seeking to understand how God has been shaping, challenging, and encouraging you in this season – not to count opinions, but to listen well and steward the future faithfully.  There will be a short presentation on the survey by Josh Harlukowicz this Sunday at the end of our church service.  The findings will be shared at our Annual Church Business Meeting after church on Sunday, February 8th.   Note: We will be taking this survey for the next two weeks in order to get as many people as possible.

Pray Oregon Coast

Our next Pray Oregon Coast community prayer and worship event is scheduled for 6:00pm Friday, January 16th at “The Refuge.”  The Refuge Church is located in downtown Coos Bay right next to Dairy Queen.  Hope to see you there!

Our final “Gospel Jubilee Open Mic” of the season is scheduled for 3:00pm this Sunday.  Our “Christmas Jubilee” is always the biggest jubilee event of the year. We hope you can join Tom, Debbie, and Steve as they lead us in some of our favorite Christmas songs.  There will also be an open mic for people to share their own Christian songs if they would like to.  Hope to see you there!

Can you help with a crisis meal?

Sadly, our church family has gone through one crisis after another over the past couple of months and we are running short of people willing to provide meals for hurting families.  If you would be willing to provide a meal for someone going through a major life crisis, please let me know and I’ll pass it on to coordinator Deb Sensenbach.

The church has free copies of “Our Daily Bread” in the main hallway of the church on the display rack.  The December copies are running a little behind and we haven’t received them yet.  You can also order free large print copies delivered to your house for free in a three-month edition if you prefer.  Simply go to https://www.odbm.org/en/ to subscribe.

This week is a time for us to stop (or at least slow down) and give thanks to God for the many blessings He has bestowed upon us over the past year.  If God never gave us another thing, He has already given us way more than we deserve, we should be very grateful for what God has given us.  His greatest gift is His Son Jesus!

Our final Gospel Jubilee Open Mic of the season is scheduled for 3:00pm Sunday, December 7th at the church.  “The Christmas Celebration” is generally our biggest celebration of the season.  We hope you can join Tom, Debbie and Steve for a great time of worshiping the Lord together.

Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes – A big thank you!

Special thanks to everyone who participated in “Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes,” this year, the Shoreline family was able to donate 105 shoeboxes to needy children around the world.

K-Light Radio’s Annual Share-A-Thon is on!

Today and tomorrow K-Light Christian radio station (98.7 FM) will be doing their annual share-a-thon fundraiser to cover the cost of their broadcasts for 2026.  K-Light has been extremely gracious with Shoreline Community Church keeping the cost of our weekly broadcast Sunday mornings at 10:00am to an unbelievably low price.  We are very grateful for their kindness and generosity.  Please consider supporting this worthy ministry.

SCC Prayer Request

Dona Pedigo ~ Please be in prayer for the Pedigo family, the doctors at Riverbend have determined there is nothing more they can do for Dona following her stroke and brain bleed, she has now been transferred to the Pete Moore Hospice House in Eugene.  Bob is heading that direction today and will be with his daughters Heather and Cassie, by Dona’s side.

Hello everyone,

This weekend I plan to bring the message, “A Glorified Body Prepared For Heaven” from 2 Corinthians 5:1-11.  With all that has been going on with our church family lately, I thought this would be a timely and encouraging message.  Please read through the attached “Digging Deeper” Bible study notes before Sunday to get the most out of the message.

Buddy Williams “Celebration Of Life”

Buddy’s “Celebration Of Life” is scheduled for 1:00pm this Saturday at Shoreline Community Church.  Buddy was a paid staff member of Shoreline and has been a critical part of our ministry team over the past decade.  Buddy was a big teddy bear and always had a kind word for everyone.  He was often the first one to arrive at church and the last one to leave , no matter what he was doing.  Buddy brought our music ministry to a new level, and his sudden death has left a huge hole in his family and in our ministry at Shoreline.  Our hearts go out to Buddy’s wife Debbie, his sister Robin, brother Bobby, and father Garry Sr.  I hope you can join us this Saturday as we gather as a family to honor Buddy’s short but full life.

Our next baptism service is scheduled for the weekend of November 23rd, if you have never followed the Lord in water baptism and would like to, please let me know as soon as possible!

Mission 119:11 Midweek Children’s Ministry

Our “Mission 119:11” midweek children’s ministry is each Wednesday at 6:30pm following the school calendar.  Mission 119:11 is for children preschool through 6th grade.  We hope your children, grandchildren, and neighborhood children can join us for an exciting and fun together. 

Note: Mission 119:11 is a play on words for Psalm 119:11: “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.” 

Another Disturbing Report

For a third time in recent months, I have received a report that our church family is not friendly to visitors, the individual will not be returning.  Please be looking for people you don’t know and do what you can to help them to feel welcome at church.  As we develop friends, it is easy to get in our clicks and spend our time talking to those people whom we are comfortable with.  The Lord has blessed us at Shoreline with around 400 people in our church family and there is no way I can get around to everyone, I need your help.  Please help me to do church like we used to at Shoreline with everyone being friendly and excited to meet newcomers.  Cheryl and I promise to do our best to make people feel welcome.

SCC Prayer Requests

Dona Pedigo ~ Last Sunday things looked very bleak for Dona following her stroke, but praise the Lord, she has been slowly coming out of it.  Dona is talking and is feisty, that is especially good with the battle she has ahead.  Please continue to be in prayer for Dona in her recovery and for Bob and their daughters as well.

Merlin Edmonston’s parents ~ Please be in prayer for Merlin, Rebecca, and the family. Merlin’s father suffered a brain bleed and his mother was in a car accident going to visit him, she is now also in the hospital, but a different hospital than Merlin’s father.  Please continue to lift up the entire Edmonston family in your prayers.

Ray Hetzler ~ Please pray for Ray’s brother, he was traveling cross country and was hospitalized 358 miles from his home.  Please pray for wisdom for the medical team working on him and also for Ray and the family.

Unspoken Requests ~ We have several people in our congregation who are currently fighting serious illnesses, although I don’t have the freedom to share their names, the Lord knows who they are.   Please keep these dear people in our church family lifted up before the Lord!

Veteran’s Day Luncheon – This Saturday

A special Veteran’s Day Luncheon is scheduled for noon, Saturday, November 8th at the North Bend Community Center, this is for all veterans.  This luncheon will be put on by SOVO (Southern Oregon Veterans Outreach) and it sounds like the food may be coming from the Coach House.  I will be at this event doing the invocation and benediction, if you are a veteran who attends Shoreline Community Church, I hope you can join me and the others for a special time together.  Thank you for your service!

Pointman Ministries For Veterans

At Shoreline Community Church, we help our military community anyway we can.  One of those ways that we help is through the Pointman Ministry for veterans which we host every Tuesday at 5:00pm.  If you are a veteran, we would love for you to attend, the brotherhood of our country’s veterans is something that we never loose whether we are male or female veterans.  Please join us Tuesday nights at 5:00pm in Room 101 at the church.

Daylight Savings Time starts this Sunday, November 2nd, remember is it Fall backwards, which means we get an extra hour of sleep on Sunday morning.

The next “Men’s Breakfast” is scheduled for 9:00am this Saturday at the church.  Men are invited to come expecting lots of tasty food, great fellowship, and a lively discussion to follow.

Gospel Jubilee Open Mic

Update

Thank you for your understanding while Cheryl and I were gone last week, my daughter Jennifer was hospitalized at OHSU for four days following her surgery. We finally have her home now, but she has a way to go for recovery.  Thank you for your continued prayers.

It has been a rough week at Shoreline with the death of Buddy Williams and lots of other things going on, but families pull together when times get tough. May God bless you this week as you walk closely with Him!

All-Church Camp at Laverne Park

Our All-Church Camp is scheduled for September 18-22 at the Laverne Park’s Private Campground.  The cost for the camp is $25.00 per day, and you are welcome to come for as many of the days as you can.  Come expecting lots of fun, fellowship, and some very good teachings from God’s Word.  A potluck dinner is planned for Saturday night, please bring a large dish to share with the others.

Our Mission 119:11 midweek children’s ministry is up and running, what a blessing it was to see so many excited children and leaders last night.  Mission 119:11 takes place at 6:30pm every Wednesday night following the church calendar.  Our midweek children’s ministry is for children preschool through 6th Grade, and the children love it.  We have a great team of leaders this year and now just need more children, we also need your prayers as well.  Please invite the children from your families and neighborhoods to join us.  For more information, I encourage you to call Isaiah or Sam at 541-808-0902.  Mission 119:11 is a play on Psalm 119:11 which says, “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”

Hadley Campbell “Celebration Of Life”

Hadley’s “Celebration Of Life” is scheduled for 1:00pm this Saturday at the church.  Twelve-year-old Hadley tragically lost her life in an automobile accident a little over a week ago.  Please be in prayer for Hadley’s family during this difficult time.

MomCo (Mom’s Community)

Congratulations to Kory and Whitney Isley

Congratulations to Kory and Whitney Isley on the birth of their son Colter Scott Isley.  Little Colter was born at 8:29am Tuesday, September 9th.  A very handsome Colter weighed in at 8 pounds, 3 ounces.  The amazing thing is two years ago the Isley’s were praying as to whether they should adopt or not, then God opened Whitney’s womb and in the last 16 months she has given birth to three beautiful baby boys.  Congratulations Kory and Whitney!!

Baptism and Child Dedication Service This Weekend

This Sunday we plan to do a child dedication before the message and conclude the service with several baptisms, so far several people have expressed interest in following the Lord in water baptism.  If you have never followed the Lord in water baptism by immersion and would like to, please let me know as soon as possible!

Dale Cooper Interim Pastoral Care

Frontline Sandboarding Trip to Hall Lake

SCC Prayer Request

Lydia Kendall ~ Lydia (20-years old) has been transferred out of ICU to IMCU.  She is slowly getting better from the bacterial infection that attacked her blood.  Lydia still has a lot of swelling and discomfort in her face and neck.  Please keep Lydia and the Kendall family in your prayers, the family is hopeful Lydia will be able to go home soon.

Rick Orton ~ Rick’s 34-year-old son Richard is still at Riverbend Hospital in Springfield. Richard’s liver function is coming back but they are still having difficulty with his kidneys. Please keep the Orton’s in your prayers, but especially Richard during this critical time.

Hi everyone,

This Sunday I plan to bring the message, “A Fountain Shall Cleanse The House Of David” from Zechariah 13:1-14:9.  Our study through the last two chapters of Zechariah will be amazing as we see the Jewish people repent nationally for their rejection and crucifixion of Jesus Christ during His First Advent, we will see the Second Coming of Jesus, and then move into His Millennial Reign.  I hope you are as blessed going through this study as I am in preparing the message each week.  Please read through the attached “Digging Deeper” Bible study notes before Sunday to get the most out of the message.

Our Church Was Reviewed Last Sunday

“I tried a new church today. At first it was awful. Nobody talked to me and just talked to their own people. Then the pastor handed me fudge out of nowhere lol (apparently that’s what he does when he sees new people… his wife makes it!) The worship music was good! The sermon was more for a mature Christian (which is something I had talked about with someone that was needed) and was more of a lecture type so that would take some getting used to. And then I went to say hi to the pastor (I remember him from a church I went to in high school lol) and then I wound up accidentally getting invited to the church’s weekly prayer meeting and the weekly email chain because a lady came up asking the pastor for some prayer and was saying how crazy her past few weeks have been and I asked her name and if I could add her to my prayer list. And so he asked if we could pray over her together and so he asked me to go first and then him. So we did.”

Note: I appreciate this review as we can learn from it.  Please try to remember what it feels like when you walk into a church that you’ve never been to before.  My hope is that everybody who walks through the doors into Shoreline will be greeted by many people during their time at church and that the friendliness will come naturally.  Cheryl and I promise to do our part to help people feel comfortable, will you help us in reaching out to our newcomers.  No one should ever have to say, “At first it was awful.”

Camp Good News ~ Please be in prayer for Sam, Isaiah, and the children at Camp Good News this week.  Please pray for safety, fun for the kids, and lots of spiritual fruit.

Baby Seth ~ “Please pray for a little baby named who was born with a heart condition and has had several surgeries to fix it. His latest operation was successful, but the doctors still haven’t been able to remove him from ECMO. Please keep this young boy and his family in your prayers, as they’ve been at the hospital ever since he was born 9 months ago. His latest surgery finished in the middle of the night and they haven’t been able to take him off ECMO. This is bad news (in case you’re like me who had to look up what ECMO is). The surgery went really well so the medical team is confused why he isn’t recovering better.”

Van Driver Needed

We are in need of a substitute van driver to fill in for this weekend.  Our insurance requires the driver to have a good driving record, and to be between the ages of 25 and 69 years of age.  If you can help with this need, please let me know.

Camp Good News (August 4th-8th)

Children ages 6-12 are invited to join the CEF (Child Evangelism Fellowship) team August 4th-8th at Camp Fircroft near Langlois.  Isaiah and Sam will be there for the entire week with the kids.  If your children are interested in attending, please call Sam Turman at 541-080-0902 as soon as possible.  We do have a few scholarships from Shoreline available for those children who need them.

NOTE: The camp is in desperate need of a camp nurse or EMT for Sunday night, all day Monday, and Tuesday morning.  We have a nurse who has agreed to cover the rest of the week.

Congratulations!!

Congratulations to Desmond and Kristal Hangana on the birth of their sixth child.  Little Noah Phillip Hangana was born at 5:04pm Tuesday, July 8th at Bay Area Hospital.  Baby Noah arrived weighing in at 7 pounds 4 ounces and measuring 20 inches in length.  We praise the Lord that Noah is healthy and that Mom and baby are both doing fine.

Our Sympathy

Our hearts go out to Deb Sensenbach and family as Jack went home to the Lord shortly after church last Sunday.  Jack’s “Celebration of Life” is scheduled for 1:00pm Saturday, August 16th at Shoreline Community Church.

Camp Good News is scheduled for August 4th through 8th at Camp Fircroft near Langlois.  Camp Good News is for 1st through 6th Grade children.  Both Isaiah and Sam will be at camp for the entire week with the children, for more information contact either one of them.  We do have a few scholarships available if you can’t afford for your child to go.

All-Church Fall Campout

This weekend I plan to teach Part III of a four-week mini-series, “The Ten Commandments (Part III – A Love For Others)” from Exodus 20:12-15.  I hope you enjoyed Part I & II of the series the last few weeks.  I encourage you to read through the attached “Digging Deeper” Bible study notes before Sunday to get the most out of the message.

Note: SCC Missionary Jeremie Agre and his wife Marie Claire will be visiting Shoreline Community Church this Sunday, July 6th.  Jeremie will be sharing in the Passover Room during the 9:30am Sunday School hour and will also be sharing for 15 minutes during our worship service.  A blue box love offering will be taken for Jeremy and his ministry at the end of the service.

Note: I am in a very busy season with the Coast Guard right now with four Change of Commands and five Retirement Ceremonies to perform, thank you for your understanding. The cool thing is I am invited to bring the spiritual aspect to our local Coast Guard personal and their families.

SCC Prayer Request

Tonya Howard ~ A really dear friend, and amazing sister in Christ just very unexpectedly lost her husband on June 5th.  It appears he suffered a heart attack and is now in Heaven in God’s presence.  She is clinging to this hope right now, but I know this has hit her extremely hard.  She lives in Las Vegas, and is staying with her Mom right now, but it sounds like they will be moving in the fall to Ohio, to be closer to her family.  Please be in prayer for her as she makes these adjustments in her life.

Pastor David Update

Pastor Dave seems to be doing better this week, he is still struggling with a little confusion at times mid-sentence, but Amy said he is getting independent and stubborn again.  She said that is a good sign.  Thank you to everyone who has been delivering meals to him and his daughter.   There may be times that Amy needs a ride to the store as she doesn’t drive and pastor is unable to at this point.

Pastor David Update

Welcome to Isaiah Turman

Isaiah Turman has joined the SCC staff as our new Director of Children’s and Student Ministries.  Isaiah is a recent graduate of Alaska Bible Institute in Homer, Alaska and is thrilled to be on staff at Shoreline.  Isaiah’s cell phone number is 541-294-0709, please be sure to reach out and welcome him onboard! 

Summer Intern Position

The elders have decided to hire Sam Turman as our Summer Intern for up to 20 hours per week to help with our summer children’s ministry activities while we get Isaiah trained for the Fall.  Sam will be our intern from May 18th through September 20th.

Note:  I am thrilled to get the help, I have been the only fulltime pastor on staff for a congregation of around 350 for the past three years; Pastor David has been my back up at 20 hours per week.   Things have gotten really tough since Jessie moved, this will be some welcome help.

Women’s Sewing And Crafting Gathering

Our next “Women’s Sewing And Crafting Gathering” is 10:00am this Saturday at the church.  We hope you can join the other ladies with your projects.

Mission 119:11 Worker Appreciation Dinner

We have an appreciation dinner scheduled for all of our Mission 119:11 workers scheduled for 6:00pm this Wednesday at Gino’s Pizza in North Bend.  We hope you can join us as we celebrate an incredible year of ministry with the kids.

Women’s Retreat at Camp Fir Point
