News For You!!

Hi everyone,

Parking On The Lawn

Thank you to everyone who has been parking on the lawn by the office and walking over to the church.  Every car parked on the lawn opens up one more space in the parking lot for visitors.

Special Thanks

Last weekend was one of the busiest weekends we’ve ever had with several activities all going on at once:  The Gospel Jubilee Open Mic; hosting Pray Oregon Coast; The Women’s Sewing Group; Worship Practice all day for Church and the Evening of Worship; our Church service Sunday morning; and the “Evening Of Worship” Sunday night with five worship teams playing 22 songs.  Thank you to everyone involved for a massive team effort, but special thanks to Stefanie Ahlers for organizing most of the music, Buddy Williams who was on the sound, and Tara Cook who put together and operated all of the PowerPoint slides.  What a blessing last weekend was!

Outdoor Worship Services

The elders plan to start our outdoor worship services on Sunday, July 9th, by then the weather should be warm enough to move outdoors.

We hope you can join us for prayer Sunday mornings at 8:30am and Sunday School at 9:30am.  I look forward to seeing you at church this Sunday at 10:30am; remember all services are broadcast live through our website and our facebook live page.

SCC Prayer Request:

Kim Paulson ~ “I got a text from a new friend who was in the ER the day before yesterday. I didn’t get permission to use their name but God knows who they are. They texted me, “Would appreciate as many prayers as possible.” Several weeks ago, they were told that they “may have had a heart attack.” Then last night their “pulse & blood pressure shot up,” & in the ER, they were given 2 doses of IV heart/blood pressure medicine. “blood pressure is better, pulse is still higher than it should be. Not sure what’s going on, or what will happen.” Both husband & wife went home to finally eat & sleep, but “B.P. was still 120 something when I left. Going to try to get appointment with cardiology at OHSU.”

A Sweet Moment

Pastor Larry Waggoner discovered the gentleman who stands in the middle of the isles near the screen during our worship music is doing so because he can’t see the screen.  The only way he can see the words and join in the worship is to move close.  When Larry found this out, he said the Lord laid upon his heart to go and worship next to him so that he wouldn’t be alone.  Thank you Pastor Larry for being sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

I look forward to seeing you this week.  Have a blessed week in the Lord as you walk closely with Him!

We will have two prayer times this weekend, the first at 4:30pm on Saturday and the second at the normal 8:30am Sunday.Last Sunday 17 people showed up for prayer time and poured their hearts out to God before church.I think that is a big reason why God is blessing us the way that He is.We invite you to join us each week for a special time of prayer.

News For You!!

Hello everyone,

I wanted to take just a moment to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving.  This Thanksgiving Day we have so much to be thankful for, I’m afraid that we often take for granted the many blessings that God has bestowed upon us.  I’m thankful for my wife, my children, my family, friends, and a church family at Shoreline Community Church that we love very much and know that you love us. You are simply the best.  Even at that, I’m most thankful for God and the incredible love He demonstrated for us by sending His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins.  By grace through faith in Him, we can be forgiven of our sins and spend eternity in heaven with Him.  (Eph. 2:8-9) Thank you Lord!

Coming This Sunday

This Sunday I am beginning a two-part series on “The Day Of Pentecost.”  The first message will be, “The Day Of Pentecost (Part I)” from Acts 2:1-21.  This will be a very special teaching, I hope you will invite family, friends, and people you meet to come along to church with you.  Please read through the attached “Digging Deeper” Bible Study notes before Sunday to get the most out of the message.  Special thanks to Pastor Phil Jeffery for filling in for me last week so that I could attend training in Seattle for the Coast Guard.

Bible Studies Cancelled This Week

Our Thursday Bible studies will be cancelled this week because of Thanksgiving Day.  My Friday “Foundations Class” will also be cancelled this week only.  Have a Happy Thanksgiving Day weekend.

Thanksgiving Baskets

Frank DeSpain informed the elders that 20 Thanksgiving boxes were handed out this Thanksgiving.  The deacons included a $25.00 Safeway gift card in each basket. Frank said the deacons could have easily handed out 10 additional baskets if we had them. Thank you to the many people who participated by donating your time and finances to bless so many families.

Way To Go Deacons

In my 26-years of fulltime ministry, I’ve never seen a deacon board operate like our current board.  They are everywhere, doing exactly what deacons within the body of Christ should be doing.  More people are being helped then you will ever know because they do so much ministry behind the scenes.  Please be sure to thank your deacons when you see them for the great job they are doing in helping many, many people.

Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Numbers

This year Shoreline Community Church attendees brought in 105 Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes – PTL!  The local Coast Guard stations turned in an additional 27 shoeboxes to us as well.  Thank you Judy Tjaarda for all your hard work and for taking 132 shoeboxes to the distribution center for us last Sunday.

Thank You Smokey Reynolds

Special thanks to Smokey Reynolds who has volunteered to be our new church van driver on Sundays.  If you need a ride to church or know of someone who does, please call the church office at 541-808-0902.

A Special Thank You!

As I’ve said many times, I don’t know who gives what to the church financially, but I’ve got to say, I am amazed at what is happening. Thank you to everyone who has been donating so generously to the Lord’s work at Shoreline, this month we have had some of the highest offerings that I can remember during my time in ministry.  May God bless you for your generosity, thank you for putting us in a position where we can continue to move forward and expand in ministry!

May God bless you with a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend as you walk closely with Him!

Important Announcement from the Elders

MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT:

The elders of Shoreline Community Church have rehired Pastor Phil Jeffery to be our new part-time Associate Pastor.  Each of the Shoreline staff members are delighted to have Pastor Phil rejoin the team, his return will be to a new position and will not affect any of our current staff members.  What Phil does bring is a wealth of experience and the ability to strengthen us in the areas where we are weak.  Phil has been serving as a lead pastor for the past year and a half but had come to a time of transition.  Pastor Phil’s starting date will be Tuesday, November 1st.  Congratulation Pastor Phil and welcome home!

The Preacher – Pastor Dave Rymer

This is the way of an adulterous woman: she eats and wipes her mouth and says, “I have done no wickedness” (Proverbs 30:20).   An adulterous woman is probably the most loathed and despicable woman in the world; a woman who sins and thinks nothing of it, and says, “So what – I do not care who I destroy.” Countless lives are destroyed by this kind of loose and lusty woman. We are living in a world of careless people who sin and grieve the heart of God and think nothing of it, a world that disregards Him and His word, a world without a moral compass or a clean conscience, a world that sins, wipes its mouth, and thumbs its nose at God – a world that needs Him in a most desperate way.

The Preacher – Dave Rymer

“For He knows our frame (how we are formed;) He remembers we are dust” (Psalm 103:14). Becareful now, child of God, this is not an excuse to sin.   How we love to blame others, even the Lord God, for the way we are, If we can blame Him for the way we are, then we will not have to blame ourselves when things go wrong in our lives. However, God will have nothing to do with tha false and carnal confession. King David thought he had gotten away with sin, until Nathan the prophet said to him, “You are the man” (2 Samuel 12:7). If it didn’t work for David – it will not work for you.

Ladies Rice Bown Luncheon – This Saturday

The PReacher – Pastor Dave Rymer

“Who satisfies your mouth with good things…”(Psalm 103:5). If God has filled our mouths with good things, why is it that we complain so much? Yet complaining seems to be the stock and trade of some of God’s blood-bought, blood-cleansed children these days. One man comments on this issue by saying, “He would complain if he was hung with a new rope.” If we praised the Lord as much as we complained against Him, our lives would take on a whole new meaning, and the heart of God would be warmed and gladdened for a change, rather than saddened by what He sees in our lives, and hears coming out of our mouths.

The Preacher – Pastor Dave Rymer

“For promotion comes not from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is judge; He puts down one, and sets up another”(Psalm 75:6-7).  This is real promotion: His Lord said unto him, “Well done you good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things – enter into the joy of the Lord” (Matthew 25:21).   Politicians spend millions of dollars running for office in hopes of winning the coveted reward.   God’s people get promoted to the office of greatness (Psalm 18:35,) and it does not cost them an arm and a leg to get it.  When the Lord God promotes you – you know that you are on the winning side.

The Preacher – Pastor Dave Rymer

“Like as a Father pities his children, so the Lord pities them that fear Him(Psalm 103:13). If the Lord God pities His children why are some of them just plain pitiful? Instead of being called saints (1 Corinthians 1:2,Ephesians 1:2, Philippians 1:1,Colossians 1:2) they should be called”Pitiful.”   Fear is a wonderful thing when it is directed toward the Lord God. Sois pity a wonderful thing when it is directed toward those who deserve it.- it is too bad that there is not more ofit around these day of human turmoiland alienation.

The Preacher – Pastor Dave Rymer

EVANGELISM

“He made known His ways unto Moses, His acts unto the children of Israel (Psalm 103:7). If it is easy for the Lord God to reveal Himself to us through His word, why is it so hard for us to reveal Him to men and His great love for them?   If He confesses us to His Father, why are we so reluctant to confess Him before men? (Matthew 10:32-33).   But let’s face it, speaking out for God can be intimidating at times. But once you get over the fear or it all, Witnessing for Him is quite invigorating, especially when you talk about how glorious and powerful He is,and His willingness to bless and to save.

The Preacher – Pastor David Rymer

“Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than their heart could ever hope for” (Psalm 73:7).   Carnal flesh can never get enough. So too, the eyes are never satisfied. They lust over everything they see.   However, there is coming a day in the near future when all that will change. They brought nothing into the world and they will take nothing out of it. When they die they will go to their penniless re-ward still lusting after the “good life.”    The child of God should never envy ungodly people or salivate over the things they possess. For it is better to go to heaven without a penny in your pocket, than go to hell a rich person.”

The Preacher – Pastor David Rymer

“Blessed be the Lord, who loads us with benefits… ” (Psalm 68:19). Why is it that the Lord God loads certain people down with benefits while others barely receive one?   No doubt the answer to this mystery is summed up with a word-Attitude. Yes, attitude!   Once there is an attitude adjustment, blessings usually

flow; unless of course, ungratefulness raises its ugly

head and dries up the flow of God’s blessing upon us; and

then it is back to gripping and poverty once again.

Note:As Auxiliary Clergy Support Chaplain with the United States Coast Guard, I have the unique opportunity to minister to the spiritual needs of Coasties at 9 of our 10 Coast Guard stations in Sector North Bend.(The 10thstation, Station Chetco River, has its own ACS Chaplain.)To function in this capacity, I need to have an endorsing agency accepted by the U.S. government, they will not accept non-denominational churches. My endorsing agency is the Venture Church Network (formerly Conservative Baptists), and I am required to attend a couple of meetings each year with them, this weekend is one of them and it will be at Men’s Roundup.Thank you for your understanding as we care for our local military personnel and their families. This allows me to minister to the spiritual needs of approximately 450 military members and their families. As of August 7th, I have now been serving in this capacity for over 15 years.

SCC Prayer Update

Please continue to pray for a miracle for the family of Dawn and Will’s friends who were involved in a very serious rear end accident this past Monday. Their pastor was at the hospital with them Monday, yesterday and was due to return today. The parents have minor injuries, but the concern is for their three children, especially for Cooper, their 6-year-old son, who sustained a severe brain bleed and is in ICU. Coopers condition has not improved but Dawn said it sounds as if the parents are preparing their hearts for his passing. Please continue to pray for God’s mercy and a miracle of complete healing for him and the family. Their 9-year-old daughter is in bad shape both physically and mentally, she is very quiet. She is in a lot of pain (from the intestinal damage as well as a broken femur) that the doctors are trying to manage and was scheduled for a follow up surgery on her intestines today. Their 4-year-old daughter had surgery on her femur today and a rod and pins were put in. She is in a cast up to her chest. She and her older sister are in the same room. Their grandparents have flown in to help give support. Please continue your prayers for the entire family for healing physically, mentally, and spiritually. I will continue to update as soon as any further information becomes available. Please know how grateful Dawn and Will are for your continued prayers on behalf of the friends. This is so difficult.APF, Tami

Clayton Ashbough ~ Please continue to pray for Clayton as he recovers from his foot amputation.Thank you to everyone who has been helping out with Clayton.

Lorraine Eckberg ~ Please continue to pray for Lorraine.Lorraine received a very good report from her cancer doctor after the elder anointed and prayed over her, surprising even the doctor – PTL!

May God bless you with an incredible week as you walk closely with Him!

SPECIAL REQUEST

Stephanie Wynn from Shoreline is shut in much of the time these days, but has found a productive way of using her time and energy.  Stephanie is very involved with what is called “The Pocket Blanket Project” making blankets for our local homeless population.  Stefanie is in need of material to continue this ministry.  She says she has been getting “Mainstays” Fleece Throw’s at Wal-Mart, they are 50 x 60 inches.  The plain are $3.00 and the print $3.78 each.  She said she adds three pockets, one that she places a Bible in, one with a toothbrush, and the other with socks. Stephanie says, “We’ve delivered over 100 Pocket Blankets since 5/12/22.”  If you are willing to help Stephanie with materials for the cost of this special project, please call her at 541-756-2187, or at 541-260-9077.

MOPS

Our MOPS ministry (Mother’s-Of-Preschoolers) will be starting once again in September.  If you are interested in attending or helping with this very special ministry, please call Kristal Hangana at 775-379-8892.

BIGGER PLAYGROUND/NEW SIDEWALK/NEW WINDOWS

You might notice that we have enlarged the children’s playground and have also torn up the old sidewalk placing a new one on the southwest side of the church.  We hope that this new sidewalk will be safer for you and we have also created a way to drain our new baptistry.  Sometime in the not-too-distant future, we will be replacing the old single pane windows in the Passover Room with double paned, which should make the Passover Room much warmer this winter.

THANK YOU

Thank you for your faithful support of Shoreline Community Church, your kindness and generosity have allowed us to keep pressing forward ministry, even during difficult times.

I hope to see you this Sunday at 10:30am outdoors on the lawn.  Remember, prayer time is at 8:30am in Room 101; three adult Sunday School electives are available at 9:30am; and church starts at 10:30am.  Please be praying about whom you can invite to church with you this Sunday.

“The Preacher” – Pastor Dave Rymer

“… Why do you persist in rebellion? Your whole

head is injured, your whole heart is afflicted.

From the sole of your foot to the top of your head

there is no soundness – only wounds and welts

and open sores not cleansed or bandaged or

soothed with oil” (Isaiah 1:5-6).

Talk about being dropped on your head –

How bad can it get? I mean, ancient Israel was a

real basket case physically and spiritually. It must

have really hurt to have open wounds, welts, and

sores all over your body.

What is worse than open wounds, welts, and

sores? – Giving open wounds, welts, and sores

by some of the things we say and do to people.

“The Preacher” – Pastor Dave Rymer

“Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for

this is right. Honor your father and mother:

which is the  first commandment with promise;

That it  may be well with you, and you may live

long on the earth” (Ephesians 6:1-3).

If you are wondering why so many of our young

folks are dying at an early age; especially

teenagers and young adults, you need to go no

further than Ephesians 6:1-3.

If parents were the kind of godly parents God

called them to be – most of our children would

enjoy a comparatively long, happy, and prosperous

life.
