News For You!!

Hello everyone,

I wanted to take just a moment to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving.  This Thanksgiving Day we have so much to be thankful for, I’m afraid that we often take for granted the many blessings that God has bestowed upon us.  I’m thankful for my wife, my children, my family, friends, and a church family at Shoreline Community Church that we love very much and know that you love us. You are simply the best.  Even at that, I’m most thankful for God and the incredible love He demonstrated for us by sending His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins.  By grace through faith in Him, we can be forgiven of our sins and spend eternity in heaven with Him.  (Eph. 2:8-9) Thank you Lord!

Coming This Sunday

This Sunday I am beginning a two-part series on “The Day Of Pentecost.”  The first message will be, “The Day Of Pentecost (Part I)” from Acts 2:1-21.  This will be a very special teaching, I hope you will invite family, friends, and people you meet to come along to church with you.  Please read through the attached “Digging Deeper” Bible Study notes before Sunday to get the most out of the message.  Special thanks to Pastor Phil Jeffery for filling in for me last week so that I could attend training in Seattle for the Coast Guard.

Bible Studies Cancelled This Week

Our Thursday Bible studies will be cancelled this week because of Thanksgiving Day.  My Friday “Foundations Class” will also be cancelled this week only.  Have a Happy Thanksgiving Day weekend.

Thanksgiving Baskets

Frank DeSpain informed the elders that 20 Thanksgiving boxes were handed out this Thanksgiving.  The deacons included a $25.00 Safeway gift card in each basket. Frank said the deacons could have easily handed out 10 additional baskets if we had them. Thank you to the many people who participated by donating your time and finances to bless so many families.

Way To Go Deacons

In my 26-years of fulltime ministry, I’ve never seen a deacon board operate like our current board.  They are everywhere, doing exactly what deacons within the body of Christ should be doing.  More people are being helped then you will ever know because they do so much ministry behind the scenes.  Please be sure to thank your deacons when you see them for the great job they are doing in helping many, many people.

Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Numbers

This year Shoreline Community Church attendees brought in 105 Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes – PTL!  The local Coast Guard stations turned in an additional 27 shoeboxes to us as well.  Thank you Judy Tjaarda for all your hard work and for taking 132 shoeboxes to the distribution center for us last Sunday.

Thank You Smokey Reynolds

Special thanks to Smokey Reynolds who has volunteered to be our new church van driver on Sundays.  If you need a ride to church or know of someone who does, please call the church office at 541-808-0902.

A Special Thank You!

As I’ve said many times, I don’t know who gives what to the church financially, but I’ve got to say, I am amazed at what is happening. Thank you to everyone who has been donating so generously to the Lord’s work at Shoreline, this month we have had some of the highest offerings that I can remember during my time in ministry.  May God bless you for your generosity, thank you for putting us in a position where we can continue to move forward and expand in ministry!

May God bless you with a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend as you walk closely with Him!

The church will once again be providing lunch for anyone who would like to hang around after church and continue fellowshipping.  This week, the Ciccarelli’s will be serving chilidogs.  We hope you can hang around and join us.  (Special thanks to everyone who has been helping with the cooking and food donations.)

The Preacher ~ Pastor Dave Rymer

“Rulers persecute me without a cause,

but my heart trembles at your word”

(Psalm 119:161). As of now the world is

proud and cocky, but there will come a

day in which they will experience a tremb-

ling they will never forget, when God’s

Son, Jesus, comes to town. The prophet

Isaiah wrote, “… but to this  man will I

look, even to him that is of a poor and

contrite spirit, and trembles at my word”

Isaiah 66:2). Anyone who reads God’s

word and does not tremble at some of

the things He says, should not be taken

seriously -and  should be considered to

be a fool of the highest order!

The Preacher

“For ever. O Lord, your word is settled in heaven”

(Psalm 119:89). It is one thing to have God’s Word

settled in heaven, and it is another thing to have

it settled in our hearts and in our lives. Once the

Word is settled in our hearts and lives it will bring

forth the glorious fruits of righteousness that

brings praise, glory, and honor unto Him. Any-

thing that brings praise, glory, and honor unto

us needs to be given back to Him for – He knows

how to handle it better!

                             Pastor David Rymer

The Preacher – Food for thought!

“I have esteemed the words of his mouth more

than my necessary (daily) food” (Job 23:12). It

is better to eat God’s cake than Satan’s cookies.

Job said that he esteemed (respected) God’s

words. It is one thing to respect His words, and

another thing to obey and follow them. It is the

better of wisdom to listen to Him without getting

lippy and rebellious at the things He tells us to

do. But if you insist upon having it your way –

have at it, for there will come a day in which you

will regret eating Satan’s cupcakes in hell rather

than God’s prime rib in heaven.

                                 Pastor David Rymer

“I am the vine, you are the branches”

This weekend Pastor Mike Barnard plans to bring the message, “I Am The Vine, You Are The Branches” from John 15:1-17. We hope that you have been enjoying this series through the Gospel of John, please read through the attached Digging Deeper Bible study notes before Sunday to get the most out of the message.

We hope to see you at 8:30 or 11:00am, we have now resumed our Children’s Sunday School at both services. Hope to see you this Sunday!

Country-Gospel Jubilee

The next Country-Gospel Jubilee is Sunday, October 7th @ 3 pm.The featured performers are “The Jubilee Band.” Their music is a reflection of musical influences along the road of life in combination with God’s work in their hearts and lives.

Tom and Debbie Trammel began singing for the Lord when they heard His call in 1989. Since then, they have recorded several CD’s and have many songs on YouTube. Tom plays guitar, Debbie plays bass and together they host the event.

Steve Blum plays lead guitar, sings, and has recorded several CD’s (most songs are written by him). His gospel music journey began with “The Blum Family Band”.

Come Join us for an afternoon of worship to our Lord with “The Jubilee Band”!

This event is open and free to the public. CD’s and refreshments will be available. The Country-Gospel Jubilee is an outreach ministry of Shoreline Community Church, 1251 Clark Street, North Bend, Oregon.
