News For You – Important Update!

Hello everyone,

This weekend we move to our summer worship format with the 10:30am service being outside at the pavilion next to the church office.  Please bring your Bibles, blankets, and lawn chairs.  (We will have metal chairs available for those that don’t have any.)  For the past two summers we have been using the 10:30am starting time and have had good weather, usually the fog has burned off by then and it is before the wind starts to get heavy.  Be sure to bring your coats just in case it turns out to be on the chilly side.  We will have approximately 16 parking spaces on the lawn for cars, first come first serve.

Here is our schedule for Sunday:

  • 8:30am ~ Church Prayer Time in Room 101
  • 9:30am ~ Three Adult Sunday School electives in the main church building
  • 10:30am ~ Outdoor Worship on the lawn next to the church office
  • 12:00am ~ Free Barbeque lunch outdoors following church (This weekend, hamburgers and hotdogs are on the menu.)

This Sunday I plan to bring the message, “The Glorified Body In Eternity” from 2 Corinthians 5:1-11.  Please read through the attached “Digging Deeper” Bible Study notes before Sunday to get the most out of the message.  Chaplain Santiago Rodriguez (PACAREA or Pacific Area) Chaplain for the United States Coast Guard will be with us from Alameda, CA and will be sharing about what is happening in the Coast Guard chaplaincy ministry.

Free Lunch After Church

Special thanks to Jeff St. Clair who has volunteered to head up our after-church lunches this year.  We are currently looking for a team of people who are willing to help serve and cook.  We will also need people to help set up and clean up afterwards.  If you are willing help in any way, please let me know.  Anyone who would like to volunteer to bring salads, desserts, or something else to go along with the meals would be greatly appreciated.

CEF Vacation Bible School

We are currently on our third day of vacation Bible School.  If your children have yet to attend this fun gospel-oriented event, please consider bringing them to the church from 3:30-5:00pm every day for the rest of this week.

Claudia Richardson “Celebration 0f Life”

Claudia’s “Celebration of Life” is scheduled for 1:00pm this Saturday at the church.  Please be in prayer for Steve and the family as they walk through this difficult time.

I look forward to seeing you this weekend, have a blessed week in the Lord as you walk closely with Him!

News For You!!

Hello everyone,

This weekend I plan to bring the message, “Sharing The Light Of The Gospel” from 2 Corinthians 4:1-10 at Shoreline; communion will follow.  Please read through the attached “Digging Deeper” Bible study notes before Sunday to get the most out of the message.

Note:  We will be meeting indoors at Shoreline this weekend and plan to make the move outside on Sunday, July 16th when our entire team is back.

All-Church Campout

Our “All-Church Campout” begins today and runs through Monday morning.  Shoreline will have an estimated 50 people at the Laverne Park campsite, it is the first of multiple campgrounds as you reach Laverne Park.  We are renting the entire private campground and we have all 22 sites reserved.  It is not too late to attend camp as we have had a couple of cancellations, also, if you want to go up there just for the day, you are welcome to do so.  Jon and Stef Ahlers have been doing a great job in putting the camp together.  Bill Steevens has cut nearly two chords of firewood for those at the camp, thanks Bill.  Lots of games will be available to play, a baptism will be held between 2:00-3:00pm Saturday, a potluck dinner Saturday night at 6:00pm, that will come along with several teaching and worship times.  Cheryl and I will be at the camp on Saturday before returning to North Bend for church.

Note:  I also learned that Bay Area Foursquare Church will be holding their church camp in the campground right next to us this weekend.

Vacation Bible School

Our CEF Vacation Bible School is scheduled for July 10-14 from 3:00-5:00pm at Shoreline.  VBS will be for children ages 3 years old through 6th Grade. Please encourage your children, grandchildren, and neighborhood children to come.  For more information, call the church office at 541-808-0902.

New Children’s Playground

Thank you to Jessie Yeager and the entire team of volunteers who put together our new children’s playground, it was like a massive jigsaw puzzle.  The playground turned out better than I would ever have imagined.  Thanks to everyone who poured their hearts into this project for the children.

New Electrical Panel

Shoreline has been maxed out on the current electrical panel for some time now.  Yesterday our new, much larger, panel was approved by the State of Oregon.  Starting Monday, July 17th the power will be shut off by Pacific Power and the conversion to the new panel will begin.  We expect to be without power for three or four days.  Special thanks to Roger Dunithan for all the time and effort he has put in to wiring our new electrical heating system.  Once we have our new panel go live, we can convert over to our new, more efficient, heating system.

Note: Bible studies during the power outage will have to make alternate plans.

Have a blessed week in the Lord as you walk closely with Him.  I look forward to seeing you at 10:30am this Sunday at Shoreline Community Church!

Thanks To Those Parking On The Lawns

News For You!!

Hi everyone,

This weekend I plan to bring the message, “The God Of Our Father Abraham” from Acts 7:1-7.  Please read through the attached “Digging Deeper” Bible study notes before Sunday to get the most out of the message.

Perfumes And Colognes

Multiple people have come and asked me to request that people not wear perfumes or colognes at church.  Some people are allergic to the fragrances and have their ability to breath shut down just by getting a whiff of it.  Although Stefanie Ahlers (our Worship Director) has not complained to me, I’ve seen her shut down on multiple occasions after walking by someone with perfume or cologne on, she was barely able to finish her worship sets.  For the sake of others, please consider not wearing your perfumes and colognes at church.  Thank you for your understanding and looking out for the welfare of others.

Pray Oregon Coast

The next “Pray Oregon Coast” is scheduled for 6:00pm this Friday at Hauser Community Church in North Bend.  We hope you can join us for a special evening of worship and prayer.

Singled Out

A community Singles Group meets the 1st Saturday of every month at different churches.  The next fellowship is scheduled for 6:00pm, Saturday May 6th at the Harbor Assembly of God.  If you are interested in more information, please call Alissa Hennessey at 970-901-7153.

SCC Prayer Request:

Kim Paulson ~ “I got a text from a new friend who was in the ER the day before yesterday. I didn’t get permission to use their name but God knows who they are. They texted me, “Would appreciate as many prayers as possible.” Several weeks ago, they were told that they “may have had a heart attack.” Then last night their “pulse & blood pressure shot up,” & in the ER, they were given 2 doses of IV heart/blood pressure medicine. “blood pressure is better, pulse is still higher than it should be. Not sure what’s going on, or what will happen.” Both husband & wife went home to finally eat & sleep, but “B.P. was still 120 something when I left. Going to try to get appointment with cardiology at OHSU.”
