Upcoming Events!

Hello everyone,

This Sunday I plan to complete our study on the two-chapter Book of Haggai with the message, “The Desire Of All Nations” from Haggai 2:1-23.  In chapter 1 the LORD commanded the people to rebuild His temple which had sat in ruins for over 66 years.  In chapter two the LORD moved His people to get right with Him spiritually if their worship was to be true.  Sunday’s message will have some good applications for every Christian.  Please read through the attached “Digging Deeper” Bible study notes before Sunday to get the most out of the message.

Upcoming Preaching Schedule

Here is a list of the messages that I plan to bring over the next month, I hope you are blessed by each of them:

  • Sunday, December 8 ~ “The Desire Of All Nations” (Haggai 2:1-23)
  • Sunday, December 15 ~ “The Genealogy Of Jesus Christ” (Matthew 1:1-17)

  • Sunday, January 5 ~ “Introduction To the Book Of Zechariah” (Zechariah 1:1-21)

Note:  “The Book of Zechariah” is known as “The Book of Revelation” of the Old Testament, this will be a very eye opening and interesting series.

Mission 119:11 (Mid-week Children’s Ministry)

Just a reminder that there will be no Mission 119:11 tomorrow as it would have fallen on the night before Thanksgiving Day.

SCC Prayer Requests

Kyler Peters ~ Kyler has asked for prayer for Bob Hooper, the father of his friend Andy.  Bob has suffered a heart attack and is in need of your prayers.

17-year old Riley ~ Update Tuesday 11/26: 19th day in PICU

Riley had a good day.  The ultra sound came back and the results showed a mildly enlarged liver; otherwise results unremarkable.  Today physical therapy went well.  Riley sat up, lifted his arms and legs.  Riley is doing more of the work of the ECMO on his own. (Note: This report comes from Riley’s mother Amy.) Please remember to keep Riley in your prayers, he is the grandson of Lon and Pat Kirkendall.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone, I hope your day is a special one with family and friends as we honor the Lord in a very special way.  I look forward to seeing you this Sunday for a precious time of worship.  Please be praying about who you can invite to church with you.

This weekend I plan to bring the message, “Be Thankful In All Circumstances” from 1 Thessalonians 2:13-20.  Please read the attached “Digging Deeper” Bible study notes before Sunday to get the most out of the message.

Note: Special thanks to Dale Cooper for filling in for me last Sunday with a very timely message while I was gone, I was blessed by his message.  Dale made a passionate plea for help in ministry, especially in our children’s ministry.  Only one person volunteered.

Sirkka Purkey “Celebration Of Life”

Sirkka’s “Celebration Of Life” will be coming in the later part of January, I’ll let you know more as the time gets closer.

SCC Prayer Requests:

The family of Jeannie Hincke ~ Jeannie went home to be with the Lord yesterday morning, please keep her family in your prayers.  The family will be holding a small private ceremony.

Lon and Pat Kirkendall ~ Please continue to pray for their 17-year-old grandson Riley who is on life support in Portland and his mother Aimee.  Here is the latest:  Day 12 in PICU ~ Pain meds and anxiety meds upped to help Riley stay calm while off paralytic.  We tried a different anxiety med last to help with anxiety but also delirium.  It seems to be working.  Stopped antibiotic and aminophylline.  Still on life support and taking medicine for the mold in his lungs.  He might be on The anti-fungal for months. Life support minimum 1-2 weeks.   Then physical therapy.  They now believe Riley is having an allergic reaction to the aspergillosis and it is NOT growing in his lungs yet. They will keep testing.

An Important Update!

Hello everyone,

This weekend I plan to bring the message, “Do You Feel Like The Odds Are Stacked Against You?” from Judges 7:1-25.  Please read through the attached “Digging Deeper” Bible study notes before Sunday to get the most out of the message; communion will follow.  Please be praying about whom you can invite to church.

Daylight Savings Time

Please don’t forget that this Sunday we fall back, that means we get an extra hour of sleep.

Critical Shortage

We are critically short on people willing to work Sundays with our children.  Things are so bad right now that the leaders in two areas of our children’s ministry want to step down because people won’t volunteer, they are totally drained.  As I said on Sunday, “I can’t preach and take care of our Children’s Ministry too.”  Note: I have already had to give up one of my adult classes and take a Director position in Mission 119:11 (our mid-week Children’s Ministry) to help keep the ministry going.  Please pray about what your part might be in reaching out to those who are our most precious possession: our children.  We need your help one Sunday a month.  Note:  85% of the people who are going to come to faith in Christ do so between the ages of 4 & 14.  (Child Evangelism Fellowship statistics)

Ladies Night Out

Our next “Ladies Night Out” is scheduled for 6:00pm Friday, November 1st at Shoreline Community Church.  Ladies can come expecting lots of fun and some great fellowship.

Men’s Breakfast

Our next Men’s Breakfast is 9:00am this Saturday at Shoreline.  Men are invited to come for lots of tasty food, great fellowship, and a lively discussion following.

Gospel Jubilee Open Mic

The “Gospel Jubilee Open Mic” is coming up 3:00pm this Sunday at Shoreline.  We invite you to join Tom and Debbie Trammel along with the gang for a great time of worshiping the Lord.  If you would like to perform a Christian song, please call Tom at 541-521-3330.

MomCo

Young mothers are invited to attend our next MomCo (or Mom’s Community) meeting at Shoreline 9:30am Tuesday, November 5th (Childcare is available).

Please Vote

I have had the privilege of living in the United States since I was 8 years old, I am a “legal” immigrant.  I don’t know of a more important election in my lifetime than the one that will take place on Tuesday, November 5th.  In the United States we have the privilege of choosing our leaders, we shouldn’t take that lightly as not every country has the opportunity to do so.  Please examine “the platform” of both parties to see how they will vote on the issues and then consider voting for the platform that will best hold up our Judeo-Christian values.  Don’t be sucked into personalities, look at each candidate to see how they will vote.  Note:  Cheryl and I have already voted and we hope you have too.

SCC Prayer Request

Larry Pierce ~ Please continue to pray for Larry following his recent stroke. Larry has lost use of his left arm and left leg, but it appears he is making some progress in regaining their use. Larry is receiving treatment through Riverbend Hospital and is currently in a rehab center in Springfield until a bed in the rehab section of Riverbend Hospital opens.  For at least a few days you can reach Larry at 541-736-2824.

I look forward to seeing you this Sunday at 10:30am!

(Remember, Prayer Time is at 8:30am in Room 101; Sunday School is at 9:30am with three adult electives; and as always, church is at 10:30am.)

An Evening Of Worship

Stefanie Ahlers is putting together an “Evening of Worship” that will take place at 6:00pm Sunday, September 29th at Shoreline Community Church.  We will have four different worship groups featured along with the children singing as well.  Please invite your friends for this incredible time of worshiping the Lord together.

Backup Church Van Driver Needed

In recent week’s I’ve been sharing how short we are in staffing many of positions at church.  Our regular van driver is unavailable for the next few weeks, and with no one to do it, my wife Cheryl has had to take on that responsibility.  It would be more effective for the church if she were meeting our visitors and ministering to regular attendees.  We are in need of someone under 70 years old (a requirement by our insurance company) with a good drivers license who would be willing to help us with this vital ministry.

Mission 119:11 (Midweek Children’s Ministry)

Our next Leadership Training for  Mission 119:11 will be 6:30pm Wednesday, September 25th.  Club will officially begin for the children 6:30pm Wednesday, October 2nd.

Note: We are still in need of volunteers to help with this vital children’s ministry.  Mission 119:11 is a play on Psalm 119:11 which says, “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”

Nursery Needs

We are in need of men and women willing to serve in the Nursery once a month on Sunday mornings.  This does not mean that you will miss the service as we have a livestream in the Nursery for you to follow along.  If you can help with this need, please let me know, the Lord is blessing us with many babies, and we have a few more on the way.

Coming To Ezekiel’s Christian Book Store

Ezekiel’s will now be starting a Men’s only Classic Literature Club in October. The class will be going through ancient texts seeking timeless truths that apply to the world that we live in today.  The men will be looking at these classics from a Christian worldview.  Shoreline’s Mikey Turner will be conducting the class.  If you are interested in attending, contact Mikey at 541-294-0978.

I look forward to seeing you this Sunday at Shoreline Community Church.  Please be praying about whom you can invite to church with you.

Big Weekend Coming Up!

Hello everyone,

This weekend we resume our study through the Book of Acts with the message, “The Riot At Ephesus” from Acts 19:21-41.  Attached you will find your teaching and Digging Deeper Bible study notes.

Creative Parking

Just a reminder that we encourage you to park all the way down by the church office if you can make the walk, we have the ability to park eight vehicles in the parking lot next to the office and many more on the lawn.  Each person who parks creatively opens up a space on the parking lot for one of our visitors.

Overflow Room

We have a live feed of the service in the Passover Room each Sunday with coffee and treats available for you.  Some folks like to go into the back of the sanctuary for worship, then go into the Overflow Room where they can spread out for the teaching. This has really helped us with seating for newcomers on Sundays.

Visitors

It is our hope and prayer that if a visitor walks in, he or she will feel welcome and won’t leave without being greeted by many people.  If you meet a visitor, please offer to introduce them to me before or after the service, sometimes it takes me a while to get to the back of the sanctuary.   Thank you for helping us by reaching out to new people and welcoming them to Shoreline.

Ladies Night Out

Our next Ladies Night Out is scheduled for 6:00pm this Friday in the Passover Room.  Ladies should come expecting an evening filled with fun and fellowship.

Men’s Breakfast

Our next Men’s Breakfast is scheduled for 9:00am this Saturday in the Passover Room.  Men can come expecting tasty food, great fellowship, and a lively discussion.  This month Mikey Turner will be our guest speaker.

Gospel Jubilee Open Mic Returns

Tom and Debbie Trammel have now returned from Arizona and will be hosting their first Gospel Jubilee Open Mic of the season 3:00pm this Sunday at the church.  We hope you can join Tom and Debbie for a great time of worshiping the Lord!  For more information, call Tom at 541-521-9596,

Ladies Retreat (Camp Fir Point)

Our “Ladies Retreat” is scheduled for May 3rd – 5th at Camp Fir Point in Glendale, OR.  The cost for the event will be $100.00 per person (talk to Stef if financial help is needed).  This year’s theme will be, “From the Cord to the Cross” brought to us by special speaker Patty Alexander. Our food this year will be catered by Penny Laine’s Gourmet Secrets.  We ask that you sign up in the back of the sanctuary if you are interested in going.  (Please put your check/cash in a labeled envelope into the offering box with “Ladies Retreat” written on it.) For more questions, call Stefanie Ahlers at 541-297-2899.

Have a great week as you walk closely with the Lord!

As we approach Resurrection Sunday, now is a great time to begin inviting people to attend church with you.  Family, friends, and acquaintances are much more likely to accept your invitation this time of year, and who knows, God may use you in bringing someone to Christ by doing so.  It was an unwanted invite to Resurrection Sunday that brought me to Christ, so who knows?
