The church has free copies of “Our Daily Bread” in the main hallway of the church on the display rack.  The December copies are running a little behind and we haven’t received them yet.  You can also order free large print copies delivered to your house for free in a three-month edition if you prefer.  Simply go to https://www.odbm.org/en/ to subscribe.

Shoreline Happenings

Hello everyone,

This week is a time for us to stop (or at least slow down) and give thanks to God for the many blessings He has bestowed upon us over the past year.  If God never gave us another thing, He has already given us way more than we deserve, we should be very grateful for what God has given us.  His greatest gift is His Son Jesus!

“Christian thanksgiving is the overflow of the heart toward God in the experience of his grace, exhibited most clearly in the death and resurrection of his Son, Jesus Christ.” ~ John Piper

An Important update

Hello everyone,

This weekend I plan to bring the message, “A Glorified Body Prepared For Heaven” from 2 Corinthians 5:1-11.  With all that has been going on with our church family lately, I thought this would be a timely and encouraging message.  Please read through the attached “Digging Deeper” Bible study notes before Sunday to get the most out of the message.

Buddy Williams “Celebration Of Life”

Buddy’s “Celebration Of Life” is scheduled for 1:00pm this Saturday at Shoreline Community Church.  Buddy was a paid staff member of Shoreline and has been a critical part of our ministry team over the past decade.  Buddy was a big teddy bear and always had a kind word for everyone.  He was often the first one to arrive at church and the last one to leave , no matter what he was doing.  Buddy brought our music ministry to a new level, and his sudden death has left a huge hole in his family and in our ministry at Shoreline.  Our hearts go out to Buddy’s wife Debbie, his sister Robin, brother Bobby, and father Garry Sr.  I hope you can join us this Saturday as we gather as a family to honor Buddy’s short but full life.

Baptism Service

Our next baptism service is scheduled for the weekend of November 23rd, if you have never followed the Lord in water baptism and would like to, please let me know as soon as possible!

Mission 119:11 Midweek Children’s Ministry

Our “Mission 119:11” midweek children’s ministry is each Wednesday at 6:30pm following the school calendar.  Mission 119:11 is for children preschool through 6th grade.  We hope your children, grandchildren, and neighborhood children can join us for an exciting and fun together.

Note: Mission 119:11 is a play on words for Psalm 119:11: “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”

Another Disturbing Report

For a third time in recent months, I have received a report that our church family is not friendly to visitors, the individual will not be returning.  Please be looking for people you don’t know and do what you can to help them to feel welcome at church.  As we develop friends, it is easy to get in our clicks and spend our time talking to those people whom we are comfortable with.  The Lord has blessed us at Shoreline with around 400 people in our church family and there is no way I can get around to everyone, I need your help.  Please help me to do church like we used to at Shoreline with everyone being friendly and excited to meet newcomers.  Cheryl and I promise to do our best to make people feel welcome.

SCC Prayer Requests

Dona Pedigo ~ Last Sunday things looked very bleak for Dona following her stroke, but praise the Lord, she has been slowly coming out of it.  Dona is talking and is feisty, that is especially good with the battle she has ahead.  Please continue to be in prayer for Dona in her recovery and for Bob and their daughters as well.

Merlin Edmonston’s parents ~ Please be in prayer for Merlin, Rebecca, and the family. Merlin’s father suffered a brain bleed and his mother was in a car accident going to visit him, she is now also in the hospital, but a different hospital than Merlin’s father.  Please continue to lift up the entire Edmonston family in your prayers.

Ray Hetzler ~ Please pray for Ray’s brother, he was traveling cross country and was hospitalized 358 miles from his home.  Please pray for wisdom for the medical team working on him and also for Ray and the family.

Unspoken Requests ~ We have several people in our congregation who are currently fighting serious illnesses, although I don’t have the freedom to share their names, the Lord knows who they are.   Please keep these dear people in our church family lifted up before the Lord!

Have a blessed week in the Lord as you walk closely with Him. I look forward to seeing you this Sunday morning as we worship the Lord together!

News For You!

Hello everyone,

This weekend we will celebrate “Mission’s Sunday,” our special guest will be SCC Missionary Sharon Rahilly from C.H.E. (Community Health Evangelism) ministries in Togo, Africa along with several other local missionaries.  Sharon leads a very bold ministry that includes two hospitals, mobile units, and a nursing school.  Every patient, whether Muslim or not, is given the gospel, this has led to many threats from the Muslim world against the staff.  As the area becomes more and more dangerous, it would be a great time to hear Sharon’s testimony.  We hope you can join us for this special Sunday, this will be Stefanie Ahlers first Sunday back leading worship.

Note:  Next Sunday (March 30th) I will be bringing the message, “Facing Gethsemane” from Luke 22:39-62 as we begin to prepare our hearts for Resurrection Sunday.  I’ve attached the “Digging Deeper” Bible study notes for those of you who would like to get a head Start.

Good Friday Service

Our “Good Friday” service is scheduled for 6:00pm Friday, April 18th, we hope you will be able to join us for this solemn time of remembering the original “Black Friday.”

Resurrection Day Service

This year the elders have decided to go with one big service at 10:30am for our Easter Celebration on Sunday, April 20th; we seem to have plenty of seats with the expansion and also have the overflow area in the Passover Room which can hold 30+ more people.  Prayer time will be at 8:30am and Sunday School at 9:30am on Resurrection Sunday.

Pray Oregon Coast

Our next community “Pray Oregon Coast” community worship music and prayer time is scheduled for 6:00pm tomorrow (Friday, March 21st) at “The Refuge” in Coos Bay.  The Refuge Church is located right next to the Dairy Queen in downtown Coos Bay.  Hope you can join us there for this special evening of community worship and prayer.

Jessie Barnard’s Last Sunday at Shoreline

I am sad to say that this Sunday will be Jessie Barnard’s last Sunday with us. Jessie served on staff for 12 years overseeing our Children’s and Student ministries. Jessie has also been a key figure in our worship music ministry, often leading worship; Jessie plays both guitar and drums.  Jessie is also a key voice that you hear harmonizing with Stefanie Ahlers each Sunday. During Jessie’s time at Shoreline, she has developed our Middle School and High School Frontline ministries along with Solid Ground and Bullet Proof. Jessie was the key figure in coordinating our team of nine people that developed the Mission 119:11 midweek children’s ministry, that ministry is now in two states. During the past year Jessie has volunteered her time in overseeing Mission 119:11, Frontline, and Solid Ground while working fulltime for Safe Families, Jessie’s unselfishness has saved the church approximately $40,000.00. Jessie is a graduate of Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA and will be greatly missed as she moves to her new position as “Case Manager for the Mobile Crisis Unit of Topeka, Kansas. If you have been blessed by Jessie’s ministry, please be sure to let her know this weekend!

Open Doors And Windows

Since arriving home from the Men’s Retreat on Monday, I have found doors to the church open on three separate occasions and one window wide open after everyone had left.  We also had the door by the playground wide open on Saturday night, thankfully I called Bob Pedigo from camp to come in after the alarm went off at 8:00pm to check the building and he discovered it.  Please help me to ensure all doors and windows are locked whenever you leave the church, we have a tremendous amount of money in equipment that is at risk besides any damage that might be caused by vandals.

SCC Prayer Request

Kellie Garkow ~ Please continue to pray for Kellie’s nephew Hunter Siedel and his family as he was in a bad car accident in the Redmond area and has been on life support now for over 72 hours.

Have a blessed week in the Lord as you walk closely with Him!

An Important Update!

Hello everyone,

This weekend I plan to bring the message, “Do You Feel Like The Odds Are Stacked Against You?” from Judges 7:1-25.  Please read through the attached “Digging Deeper” Bible study notes before Sunday to get the most out of the message; communion will follow.  Please be praying about whom you can invite to church.

Daylight Savings Time

Please don’t forget that this Sunday we fall back, that means we get an extra hour of sleep.

Critical Shortage

We are critically short on people willing to work Sundays with our children.  Things are so bad right now that the leaders in two areas of our children’s ministry want to step down because people won’t volunteer, they are totally drained.  As I said on Sunday, “I can’t preach and take care of our Children’s Ministry too.”  Note: I have already had to give up one of my adult classes and take a Director position in Mission 119:11 (our mid-week Children’s Ministry) to help keep the ministry going.  Please pray about what your part might be in reaching out to those who are our most precious possession: our children.  We need your help one Sunday a month.  Note:  85% of the people who are going to come to faith in Christ do so between the ages of 4 & 14.  (Child Evangelism Fellowship statistics)

Ladies Night Out

Our next “Ladies Night Out” is scheduled for 6:00pm Friday, November 1st at Shoreline Community Church.  Ladies can come expecting lots of fun and some great fellowship.

Men’s Breakfast

Our next Men’s Breakfast is 9:00am this Saturday at Shoreline.  Men are invited to come for lots of tasty food, great fellowship, and a lively discussion following.

Gospel Jubilee Open Mic

The “Gospel Jubilee Open Mic” is coming up 3:00pm this Sunday at Shoreline.  We invite you to join Tom and Debbie Trammel along with the gang for a great time of worshiping the Lord.  If you would like to perform a Christian song, please call Tom at 541-521-3330.

MomCo

Young mothers are invited to attend our next MomCo (or Mom’s Community) meeting at Shoreline 9:30am Tuesday, November 5th (Childcare is available).

Please Vote

I have had the privilege of living in the United States since I was 8 years old, I am a “legal” immigrant.  I don’t know of a more important election in my lifetime than the one that will take place on Tuesday, November 5th.  In the United States we have the privilege of choosing our leaders, we shouldn’t take that lightly as not every country has the opportunity to do so.  Please examine “the platform” of both parties to see how they will vote on the issues and then consider voting for the platform that will best hold up our Judeo-Christian values.  Don’t be sucked into personalities, look at each candidate to see how they will vote.  Note:  Cheryl and I have already voted and we hope you have too.

SCC Prayer Request

Larry Pierce ~ Please continue to pray for Larry following his recent stroke. Larry has lost use of his left arm and left leg, but it appears he is making some progress in regaining their use. Larry is receiving treatment through Riverbend Hospital and is currently in a rehab center in Springfield until a bed in the rehab section of Riverbend Hospital opens.  For at least a few days you can reach Larry at 541-736-2824.

I look forward to seeing you this Sunday at 10:30am!

(Remember, Prayer Time is at 8:30am in Room 101; Sunday School is at 9:30am with three adult electives; and as always, church is at 10:30am.)

Important Update!

Hello everyone,

This weekend I plan to bring the message, “Paul’s Dangerous Voyage To Rome” from Acts 27:1-44; communion will follow.  Please read through the attached Digging Deeper Bible study notes before Sunday to get the most out of the message.

Note: If you don’t hear from me as much as usual, please understand that we are very shorthanded right now with lots of events coming up.  Please keep Pastor David in your prayers as he has been out sick for the past week.

Is God still at work in the hearts of His people?  Yes!

Last weekend we were blessed to have Carlos Cante and his daughter Connie (interpreting) share a very good Bible message, then Carlos gave a report on the ministry in Argentina.  I mentioned that only two churches in the United States are supporting them.  At the end of the service, we took a love offering for Carlos’ ministry and praise the Lord, $11,450.00 came in.  On top of the offering to Carlos, our regular offering came in for the church as well, simply amazing.  In my 18 years as Pastor of Shoreline Community Church, I have never seen anything like this.  Thank you to each of you who have given so faithfully and so generously.

Backup Church Van Driver Needed

In recent week’s I’ve been sharing how short we are in staffing many of positions at church.  Our regular van driver is unavailable for the next few weeks, and with no one to do it, my wife Cheryl has had to take on that responsibility.  It would be more effective for the church if she were meeting our visitors and ministering to regular attendees.  We are in need of someone under 70 years old (a requirement by our insurance company) with a good drivers license who would be willing to help us with this vital ministry.

Nursery Needs

We are in need of men and women willing to serve in the Nursery once a month on Sunday mornings.  This does not mean that you will miss the service as we have a livestream in the Nursery for you to follow along.  If you can help with this need, please let me know, the Lord is blessing us with many babies, and we have a few more on the way.
