Pastor: Mike Barnard

Mike has served as Lead Pastor of Shoreline Community Church since its inception in November 2006. Before coming to Shoreline, Mike served 10 years as Pastor of Christian Education at a large non-denominational church with nearly 1,000 people in attendance, Mike oversaw both the children and adult ministries.  He has now been serving in full-time ministry as a pastor for nearly 30 years ministering in only two churches during that time. 

Before entering full-time ministry, Mike served on the Awana Advisory Board for Northern California and later North Central California.  In 1995 he and his wife Cheryl became Awana Missionary Appointees before entering full-time ministry as a pastor in 1996.  Starting when his children were young, Mike served in various capacities in the Awana ministry for over 36 years.  He is also an ACS (Auxiliary Clergy Support) Chaplain with the United States Coast Guard and has served in the Coast Guard Auxiliary for the past 18 years.  Mike ministers regularly to the active duty members and their families of six Coast Guard stations along the Oregon coast.

Mike is a people person who loves the Lord, loves his family and the expository teaching of God’s Word. He is an avid reader and enjoys all kinds of sports.  Mike and his wife Cheryl have been married for more than 48 years and have three grown children. The two have enjoyed life on the Oregon coast for the past 29 years and, God willing, have no plans of leaving.  You can reach Mike at pastor_mbarnard@hotmail.com.

Dave Rymer: Pastor of Pastoral Care (Part Time)

Pastor Dave started ministering many years ago as an evangelist on Skid Row in Los Angeles.  He has ministered to the Coos Bay area for more than 28 years now and loves our community and its people.  Dave’s love for people and rich prayer life is reflected upon everyone he comes into contact with.  Dave has a local television show on Spectrum channel 192 and a radio ministry that is broadcast on 98.1 FM.  Pastor Dave has served as an elder of Shoreline Community Church until he joined the church staff as our Pastoral Care Pastor in 2021.  It didn’t take the church family long to fall in love with Pastor Dave.

Isaiah Turman: Pastor of Children’s and Student Ministries

Isaiah is a Spring 2025 graduate of “Alaska Bible Institute” in Homer, AK, where he earned a two-year certificate in Biblical Studies.  He has been actively involved in a variety of youth and children’s ministries, including youth groups, a variety of children’s churches, and a time involved with the Alaska branch of Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF).  Isaiah was raised in a Christian home, and his family has served in full-time pastoral ministry since 2018, ministering in places ranging from Alaska, Nebraska, and Oregon.

Isaiah has a genuine passion for seeing the lives of children and students transformed by the Word of God and is devoted to the Lord Jesus Christ.  Isaiah came on the Shoreline staff during May of 2025.  Shoreline is blessed to have Isaiah as part of our leadership team.

Dale Cooper: Pastor of Pastoral Care (Part Time)

Dale comes to us from Utah. In June of 2020, Dale retired from the federal government where he spent 32 years as an aircraft mechanic; 21 of those years serving in the Utah Air National Guard.  Dale retired in 2010 from the Air Guard at the rank of Master Sergeant.  The last ten years he worked depot level maintenance at Hill Air Force Base in Utah.  Since coming to Shoreline, Dale has led many different Bible studies and is a frequent speaker at Shoreline along with other churches in our community on Sunday mornings.   Dale also teaches at the South Coast Gospel Mission and has served with our Men’s Ministry at Shoreline. He loves the outdoors, is a good cook, likes to tell stories, to write, and has a servant’s heart for helping others. Dale has 3 grown sons, and is a brand new Grandpa.  Dale joined the staff at Shoreline in 2021 and is currently an online student at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.  Dale and his wife Sheryl hope to have the opportunity to meet you.

Stefanie Ahlers:  Director of Worship Music and Women’s Ministries

Stef Ahlers was born in North Bend, to the Bigelow family back in ‘66. She, her parents, and 4 siblings (one is a twin) moved to Connecticut in 1979. There she graduated from New Milford High School, class of 1985. Upon graduation she went to Cincinnati Bible College & Seminary where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music. In 1992-93 Stef did her music ministry internship at Southeast Christian Church in Louisville Kentucky, one of the largest churches in the country. While in Louisville, she was able to be in a worship band, a Christian rock band, travel to England, Jamaica, Cuba, and Ethiopia on mission trips and perform at various churches and conventions throughout the country. In 1996, Stef took a music directorship at a church in Sweet Valley, Pennsylvania. There she helped develop the worship services and music ministry at a church of just under 300 congregants. In 1999, Stef moved back to Coos Bay, where she lived with and assisted her grandmother for 2 years. Kingsview Christian School hired her as a teacher where she taught for five years. She met her husband and got married in 2001, and they adopted their daughter, Katie, in 2005. Throughout the years Stef has been a homemaker, homeschool mom, recorded a CD, tutored children, been a home health care worker, and is now serving as Director of Worship Music at Shoreline. She loves traveling, music, camping, reading, the outdoors, hanging out with her family and friends, and most of all JESUS!  Stefanie came on staff at Shoreline in 2021.  Since that time, Stefanie has done an outstanding job leading our worship music, the elders are now proud to add to her duties Director of Women’s Ministries.

Sam Turman: Children’s Ministry / Sound and Worship

Sam Turman has been brought on the Shoreline staff in order to work in the areas of Children’s Ministries, Sound, and our worship music ministry as well.  Sam has several years of serving in children’s ministries and has also played on multiple worship teams throughout the years.  In 2024, Sam completed his training with “Child Evangelism Fellowship.”  This training includes a year of “Christian Youth In Action” training, and a class in “Teaching Children Effectively.”  He likewise has received plenty of hours of “on the job” experience, helping to lead many weekly Good News Clubs, overnight camps, and Vacation Bible Schools.  Sam’s goal is to see children come to faith in Christ and grow to become more like Him.  Same joined the Shoreline staff in 2025.

Tara Cook

Tara Cook: Administrative Assistant

Tara is a gifted administrator who stays extremely involved in many areas of ministry.  Tara is a big part of our Media Ministry operating Pro-Presenter on Sundays and keeping our online ministry up and running. Tara has been our Administrative Assistant at Shoreline since 2019.  Tara and her daughter Michaela enjoy the outdoor life of the Oregon coast.

Denise Dunithan: Church Bookkeeper

Denise is the bookkeeper of Shoreline Community Church and does a fabulous job. Denise has been a volunteer on staff at Shoreline since 2015. Shoreline has an independent reviewer come in each year to review our books and make sure our bookkeeping is done correctly. Denise has received many glowing reviews. Note: At Shoreline Community Church, any regular attender or member can request to see the church books and has full access to them at anytime. The only thing we will not divulge is what individuals give, that is between them and the Lord. We at Shoreline are grateful to have Denise as part of church staff.

  1. My wife and I listen to your sermons Sunday mornings on 98.70 and have been listening since the first time a couple months ago. We believe they are awesome, real and down to earth. You talk about topics that most other churches are afraid to tackle. Thanks for talking about the real Heaven and Hell without any sugar-coating. Let’ s bring the true Word of God, like you do, back into our churches. God Bless and keep up the good work as we live our lives for and with the Lord.

  2. I have a dear friend that lost her husband recently and out of the blue she said I would like to go to church! Told her I know just the place! We came today 7/17/22 and she loved it. I feel we may be regulars. It was so good to see Pastor mike and enjoy his message out doors! Kristy Kuehn 🙏❤️
